Hoppers led 1-0, then 2-0, then with 3 runs in the 5th inning, the Hot Rods moved in front 3-2, but not for long, as the Hoppers forged across 2 runs in the 6th inning to get back on top, 4-3, but with 1 run in the seventh inning the Rods tied the game at 4-4, then Bowling Green went for the kill in the 8th inning, and Mac Horvath, the UNC grad scored the game-winning run, on what is now labled a Wild Pitch, and it was earlier listed as a Passed Ball, but either way, Horvath scores from third, and that led to the Hot Rods 5-4 victory…This win allowed Bowling Green to clinch the South Atlantic League’s Second Half crown, in the Southern Division…Bowling Green vs. the Rome Emperors, in Round One of the Southern Division Playoffs next week…

Bowling Green wins it, and to us here at the ole GreensboroSports.com watering hole, it came across to us as a Tough Luck loss for Hoppers reliever, Alessandro Ercolani….Ercolani has probably been the top pitcher on the Hoppers staff in recent weeks, and he deserved a better fate than what he got on Tuesday night…Ercolani has been pitching like he was headed down the Swanee River in the right direction in recent weeks…He has been money…

Hopper hitters in this one:Mitch Jebb 0-3/SAC Fly RBI…RBI #42 on the season for Jebb, to go along with his 41 Stolen Bases…Duce Gourson 1-4/Run…Shawn Ross 1-4/Double/Run…Omar Alfonzo 2-3/HR/BB/Run/RBI…Josiah Sightler 1-4/2 RBI…Kalae Harrison 1-3/Double/Run/SB…

Massey worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs, on 6 hits, with 0 BBs/5 Ks…

And talk about hard to hit against, the Hot Rods pitching staff walked just one Grasshopper batter, Alfonzo, and the Rods struck out 16 Hopper batters…It was 6 Ks for Roel Garcia III, 4 Ks each for starter Ty Johnson and WP Drew Sommers, while closer Jackson Lancaster struck out 2 Hoppers….Top Hot Rod hitter was Homer Bush Jr., who went 3-5, with 3 RBI…
