Saw Zacch Wiggins’ dad Tim today/Sunday at the Forest Valley outdoor basketball court, and Mr. Wiggins had the good word on Zacch making a verbal commitment this past weekend to attend and play college basketball for the Old Dominion University Monarchs, in Norfolk, Virginia…The Wiggins family traveled to Norfolk this past weekend, met there with ODU head coach Mike Jones, and let him know of their decision…
Zacch is Class of 2025 Senior at Wesleyan Christian Academy…He’s looking forward to a great upcoming senior season, with the WES Trojans…Zacch’s brother Aaron, who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA, joined the other Wiggins family members in Norfolk, for the announcement…Aaron recently signed a five-year 48 million dollar deal, this past off-season, with the OKC Thunder…
Best of luck to Zacch as he gets ready to play for the WES Trojans this season, and we also know he will do well, when he joins the ODU Monarchs for the 2025-2026 season….
Zacch Wiggins
6-5, 180 | Class of 2025
Hometown:Greensboro, N.C.
Weselyan Christian Academy in High Point
What has been said about Zacch Wiggins over the past several years from coaches at Camps and at Workouts:
Zacch Wiggins:He’s a long, skilled, athletic wing prospect with a blossoming identity on both ends of the floor. Wiggins is a great finisher and shooter who can create for himself and others or find opportunities without the ball in his hands. He’s a useful cutter and spot-up threat who attacks closeouts and can finish above the rim or through contact. Wiggins rebounds the ball well and contains his assignment effectively on defense. Has been working on getting stronger, as it’ll only make him more physically imposing on both ends of the floor. Zacch is an athletic player. Shows a useful skillset and ability with the ball in his hands.
Zacch is a long, wiry, well-rounded wing prospect who understands how to produce in a variety of different roles. Wiggins is great at allowing the game to come to him and finding opportunities within the flow of the action. He’s a capable creator and all-around scorer, but doesn’t force the action or look to dominate the ball. Wiggins sets up others, rebounds at a solid rate, and reliably contains his assignment on defense. He’s already seen a slew of programs extend offers, so it’ll be interesting to see how this new chapter unfolds for him.
Offers from UNCG, N.C. A&T, Richmond, Charlotte, George Mason, and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia…Tim Wiggins told me on Sunday, at the Forest Valley outdoor basketball court here in Greensboro, that it came down to Charlotte and ODU, and the ODU Monarchs and Coach Mike Jones won out….
Coach Mike Jones just recently became the new head coach at Old Dominion, and he played college ball at ODU, where Jones grauated back in 1995…Mike Jones took over for former ODU coach Jeff Jones, who had a heart attack last year, and he had to step down as the Monarchs’ head coach…
Many may remember Jeff Jones, as the former University of Viginia Cavaliers’ point guard, and Jeff Jones also was the head coach at UVA…Jones came to ODU, where Jeff Jones was the head coach for around 10 years…Now Jeff is a consultant for all head coaches at ODU…
Mike Jones leads the ODU Monarchs now, and he has been super-active on the recruiting trail…He brought in two new 6’10 post players for the upcoming 2024-2025 season…He has others on the way in too, by of the transfer portal…
Zacch Wiggins could be a very BIG addition for the ODU Monarchs during the 2025-2026 season…Zacch’s Weselyan Christian Academy team is already practicing Monday-Thursday at 6:30am each morning and in the afternoons, the WES Trojans are doing weight training…
It should be a very promising senior season for Zacch Wiggins, at Wesleyan Christian Academy…Coach Young has the WES Trojans primed to be major players on the NCISAA boys basketball scene…Private School hoops, with WES ready to be key players on that level in 2024-2025…Zacch Wiggins, who I first saw playing basketball back when he was student at Sternberger Elementary School, and played his most serious hoops in those days, on the Forest Valley outdoor concrete court…
Then saw Zacch move on to Mendenhall Middle School, where his Mendenhall Mustangs played for the Middle School Championship at Southwest Guilford, his eighth grade year…Then as a freshman and sophomore Zacch played for the Grimsley Whirlies, where he averaged double digits in scoring(As a sophomore at Grimsley, he was named First Team News and Record All-HSXTRA for NCHSAA schools and also an NC Basketball Coaches Association District 7 First Team)…Next up was Wesleyan Christian as a junior, and now he is ready to finish off his senior season, at WES….
With Zacch Wiggins back in the playoff days while he was at Grimsley vs. Ardrey Kell…
