UNCG Men’s Golf Claims First Place at Elon Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team claimed first place at the Elon Invitational on Tuesday in Burlington, North Carolina, at Alamance Country Club.

TEAM

UNCG carded a 19-under-par (833) with rounds of 275-280-278 to claim first place out of the 18-team field.
Tuesday’s win marks the second first-place result for the Spartans this season as the team also claimed the top spot at the Bryan National Collegiate on Sept. 10.
East Carolina finished in second place at the two-day tournament with a 12-over-par (840).
The Spartans’ 19-under-par (833) score marked the best team score this season.

INDIVIDUAL

Kelvin Hernandez finished on top for the Spartans and in a tie for sixth place on the leaderboard behind a six-under-par (207). The sophomore recorded rounds of 72-67-68 at the tournament.
B.J. Boyce finished closely behind Hernandez in a tie for ninth place after carding a four-under-par (209). Boyce shot a 66-72-71 across the event.
Jake Lewis, Colin Dutton and Jack Marcotte all finished the tournament in a tie for 15th place with an even par (213).
Dutton and Marcotte both carded a four-under-par (67) at the event with Dutton’s coming in round one and Marcotte’s in the third round.
Will Guidry came in a tie for 43rd place with a six-over-par (219). Guidry’s best score of the tournament came in the final round with a one-over-par (72).
Keenan Royalty finished tied for 62nd place with a nine-over-par (222). The sophomore’s best score came in the first round with a one-over-par (72).
Andrew Graham rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans in 92nd place with a 15-over-par (228).

Individual Spartans will compete at the App State Intercollegiate from Oct. 19-20 at Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir, North Carolina, to conclude the 2024 fall schedule.
