Tattevin’s Brace Sends Men’s Soccer Past UNCW, 3-1
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team cruised to a 3-1 non-conference victory over the UNC Wilmington (UNCW) Seahawks on Wednesday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
For the second straight home game, sophomore forward Arnaud Tattevin recorded a brace with his fifth and sixth goals of the season. He is now tied for the team lead in goals after scoring five times in the last three games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans grabbed the game’s first lead in the 30th minute when Tattevin blasted in a one-timer passed over by Enzo Dovlo at the end of a rush down the right side of the pitch. UNCG then took a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute when Keanan Bader scored off a corner kick from Jack Birch that glanced off a UNCW’s defender and right to Bader, who was uncovered near the right post. However, the Seahawks answered 29 seconds later to cut the deficit back to one, 2-1, when Christian Acevedo received a pass from Osei Gyamfi, volleyed it up to himself and around a defender before scissor-kicking it to the right past UNCG’s Tim Baerwalde.
UNCG extended its lead to 3-1 in the second half when Tattevin intercepted a pass, made a move around a sliding defender and fired a shot past UNCW’s Trey Smiley into the lower-left corner in the 68th minute.
