UNCG’s Dovlo Earns Second SoCon Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore forward Enzo Dovlo of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team has earned his second Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The Strasbourg, France, native netted the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory for the Spartans on Saturday against East Tennessee State (ETSU) for a share of the SoCon Regular Season Championship as well as the top seed for the conference tournament. He also provided an assist on Yoshiya Okawa’s first goal of the game to tie for the team lead with a total of three points.
Dovlo is in his second season at UNCG and has played and started in 32 of 33 matches for the Spartans since arriving. He has five goals and five assists for 14 points this season, good for third on the team and a tie for fourth in the SoCon.
“The regular season victory of the team is not just a matter of talent, but of determination and perseverance,” said Dovlo. “Every effort, every sacrifice has brought us here.”
This marks Dovlo’s second SoCon Player of the Week honor after previously winning the award this season on Aug. 27. Additionally, it marks the seventh SoCon Player of the Week for the Spartans this season. Seth Wilson (Aug. 27 & Sept. 17), Tim Baerwalde (Oct. 15), Arnaud Tattevin (Oct. 22) and Emmanuel Hagan (Oct. 29) also earned previous recognitions.
