Steele Breaks Program Record For Tackles in Greensboro’s Loss to Huntingdon

Montgomery, AL – It was a record setting day for Max Steele on Saturday, as he broke Allen Stallings’ program record for career tackles. Steele finished the day with 11 tackles, bringing his career total to 381. This breaks the record held by Stallings, who had 373.

Steele was one of the highlights for Greensboro in their loss to Huntingdon on Saturday, as he had 11 tackles with 1 tackle for loss. Freshman Frank Walker led Greensboro with 12 tackles, which is a new career high. Walker also had 3 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

JaJuan Givens played in his final game for the Pride, earning 9 tackles. Senior Dejuan Robinson earned 3 tackles and a forced fumble.

Greensboro started the game strong by tying the game 7-7 in the first quarter after a Tareek Smith touchdown pass to Shamar Privette. Unfortunately that was the only score of the game for the Pride, as Huntingdon scored the final 31 points of the afternoon.

Quarterback Josh Sims went 8-20 for 150 yards, while Privette led the team with 73 receiving yards to go along with his touchdown reception. Tight end Wes Kidd played in his final game of his Greensboro career, catching 2 passes for 18 yards.

Huntingdon was led on the ground by Troy Garner, who ran for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dorian Smith led the Hawks through the air with 146 passing yards.

The Pride finish the season 1-9, with their lone win coming against Southern Virginia. Max Steele led the team in tackles with 81, while JaJuan Givens was right behind him with 78. Josh Sims led Greensboro in passing, throwing for 792 yards. Tareek Smith was the main tailback for the Pride, running for 593 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also threw for 2 touchdowns. Deaven Hawkins and Wes Kidd led Greensboro with 20 receptions, while Ja’Shawn Harris had 5 touchdown catches.
