UNCG Men’s Basketball and Triad Foe High Point to Play in Fleming Tuesday Night
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s basketball team returns to Greensboro after a four-game hiatus to host Triad foe High Point on Tuesday in Fleming Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.

This will be the 14th meeting between the two Triad opponents, where the Panthers have the advantage in the series, 11-2. High Point took the last victory, 74-63, at the Qubein Center on Dec. 19, 2023.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
UNCG competed in the 2024 Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nevada, and went 1-2 with its only win being a 71-48 victory over Long Beach State.
The Spartans later fell to San Jose State, 69-64, and UTEP, 64-58.
Kenyon Giles paced the Blue & Gold last week with 15.7 points per game, four steals and six assists.
Donovan Atwell (12.7) and Ronald Polite III (12.0) averaged double figures as well.
Polite III also averaged 5.0 assists per game last week.
Jalen Breath was the team leader with 6.6 rebounds per game last week, while Miles Jones averaged 5.0 boards per game.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG concluded last season 21-11 overall and 12-6 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
This was the seventh year out of eight with 20 or more wins for the Spartans.
This was the second out of three years under Head Coach Mike Jones that the Spartans won 20 or more games.
The Spartans were voted to finish sixth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Atwell was voted to the Preseason All-SoCon team.
The Spartans return nine from last year’s roster, while adding seven newcomers.
UNCG has 13 regular season non-conference games this season: five home, five away and three neutral.

The Spartans opened the 2024-25 season with their first of two SoCon/ASUN battles including Florida Gulf Coast, taking the win 73-64.
There will be six games in Fleming Gymnasium and eight in the First Horizon Coliseum this season.
UNCG begins its SoCon slate with a game on New Year’s Day, traveling to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to face off against Wofford and the Spartans conclude regular season conference play on March 1 against Samford in Greensboro.
UNCG travels to Wofford on Jan. 1 and Chattanooga on Jan. 9 and will play on the CBS Sports Network.
The Spartans’ game at ETSU on Feb. 19 will be on ESPNU, while the team will host Samford on March 1 on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Giles joins the Spartans after two years at Radford, where he was first on the team with 1.4 steals per game and second on the team with 14.3 points per game.
Polite III and Malik Henry both come to UNCG with four years previously at George Mason. Polite III has averaged 7.38 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. Henry contributed a 62.5-percentage in field goals during his time with the Patriots.
Demetrius Davis joins the Spartans after playing the last two seasons at Chattanooga and one year each at Lawson State Community College and Augusta.
Three Spartans are averaging double figures, including Giles (14.7), Polite III (12.1) and Atwell (12.0).
Breath and Jones are pacing the team with 7.1 and 6.6 rebounds per game, respectively.
The Spartans are nationally ranked 27th in field goal percentage (37.5), 42nd in scoring defense (64.1), 61st in rebounds per game (39.86), 84th in defensive rebounds per game (27.43), 88th in three-point percentage defense (29.8) and 96th in offensive rebounds per game (12.43).
The Spartans are leading the conference in field goal percentage defense.
UNCG is second in the SoCon in scoring defense (64.1) and least number of turnovers per game (11.1).
Jones is nationally ranked 62nd in defensive rebounds per game (6.00) and is second in the SoCon.
Giles and Atwell are nationally ranked 81st in three-pointers per game (2.86), which is third in the conference.
UNCG has the advantage against its foes in points per game, 70.1-64.1, three-pointers per game, 8.9-6.0, rebounds per game, 39.9-37.0, assists per game, 15.1-11.6, and steals per game, 6.3-5.7.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point concluded the 2023-24 season 27-9 overall and 10-3 in the Big South and earning a bid to the College Basketball Invitational where the Panthers fell in the championship game to Seattle.
The Panthers are currently 8-1 overall and on a three-game win streak.
High Point went 2-1 over Thanksgiving in the Cayman Islands Classic, defeating Old Dominion, 73-67, and Hampton, 76-73.
Three Panthers are averaging double figures with D’Maurian Williams leading the way with 16.4 points per game, while Kezza Giffa has 16.1 points per game and Kimani Hamilton has 13.2 points per game.
Giffa is 14th in the nation with 47 total free throws.
Justin Bodo Bodo is leading the team with 7.4 rebounds per game.
Bodo Bodo is ranked 17th nationally in total blocks (17) and 43rd in blocks per game (1.89).
High Point is outmatching its opponents in points per game, 76.4-64.6, rebounds per game, 33.9-30.1, assists per game, 12.8-9.7, and blocks per game, 4.1-2.7.
The Panthers are nationally ranked 18th in win percentage (88.9), 41st in free throw percentage (76.7), 43rd in three-point percentage (38.1), 46th in effective field goal percentage (.563) and 47th in field goal percentage (49.0).
