**********Southwest Guilford 75, High Point Central 73**********
++++++++++With this game we are talking about what looked to me to be the Best Game of the Day/Night…++++++++++
And this was the Third Place Game in the boys/men’s bracket at the 2024 Sheetz Christmas Classic, there at Southwest Guilford High School, there in High Point and inside the Jim Coggins Gym…

When I walked in, the score was like 54-49, with SWG on top of the HP Central Bison, but I quickly learned that with the clock saying right around two minutes remaining, well this was YES two minutes left to play, but we are talking two minutes left to play in the Third Quarter…..This game was tight, and we were in for a battle, as the Third Period came to close, with the score now at 58-51, with the Southwest Guilford Cowboys in front…

But the best was yet to come…SWG had no trouble grabbing a two-point lead over HP Central, but Central would not let the SWG Cowboys pull away…The HP Central Bison, to their credit, and to the credit of their leader and head coach Josh Prince, the HP Central Bison would not go away….The game was tied up at least three to four times in the last quarter….Every time Southwest would go on top, but by 2 or even more points, Central would battle back and tie the game up again….

For Southwest Guilford, Braden Gatling hit four key, key, key, key, Free Throws down the stretch to help the SWG Cowboys nail down the win….This game was what some people would call a Battle, but this is one of those games that I would call War, and for the SWG Cowboys, it was “Mission Accomplished” as the final horn sounded and the clock hit 0:00…

This game ended, but both of these two teams, SWG and HP Central, both have just begun to lay the groundwork for what could turn out to be outstanding seasons for the Cowboys and the Bison respectively…And boy, how ’bout Them Bison????

Those guys have really showed us great improvement under head Coach Josh Prince…HP Central was playing lost there for a couple of season, and they Lost a load of games, as the weight from their lack of success was wearing them down…Many nights they were defeated before they even hit the court, but not any more….

This HP Central Bison team is a major 3-A contender, and they could end up finishing as high as second place in the Regular Season, in the Mid-State 3-A Conference….Coach Prince has his young men primed, and ready to go…Coach Vlazny has his SWG Cowboys ready also, and they plan on making some noise in the Metro 4-A Conference….

The Mid-State 3-A is Smith’s for the taking, but after the Smith Golden Eagles, it is anybody’s game…The Metro 4-A could go to a number of teams, and Southwest Guilford is right there in thick of things…If Grimsley still had Zacch Wiggins and Nick Keith, to go along with Faizon Brandon, the new Whitsett kid, Kaden Catoe, and the others, I would hate to try and stop that machine, but Wiggins and Keith are locked in at Wesleyan and the Trojans just “Took the Title” there in High Point, at the Sheetz Christmas Classic…

Good lineup of talent there this year, and it should keep getting better, as more kids spread their wings and fly around the county/area in search of the school that will give them the best chance of succeeding at the next level…We always try and level with you, and to be totally honest, the Wesleyan-Greensboro Day boys meetings and the girls meetings too for that matter, those meetings are going to be PRIME TIME…..Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, may want to try and get a seat for those Bengal-Trojan matchups….

According to the notes, GDS and WES have met once already at WES, with the GDS Bengals boys winning that contest, 53-44, in a very low-scoring affair…WES girls topped GDS, 66-58, in a game with plenty of points…Next meeting between GDS and WES, is January 28, at the Greensboro Day School…

Back into that Metro 4-A boys race with the SWG Cowboys in the hunt, and of all teams, Western Guilford is (3-0) and the top team for now, when they get going again next week with Conference action….It would almost be impossible to give a true favorite right now for the Boys this season in the Metro…SWG is at (2-1), along with several other teams, and Western on top, then you got SWG, Grimsley, NWG, Page, Northern, and that’s six teams right there with a chance to win it all for 2024-25…Any of those six could end up being the Metro 4-A Champion, and it could be the Southwest Guilford Cowboys…Ragsdale and Southeast Guilford look to be the two teams not in it for this year…More on the way…

Also from Southwest Guilford on the All-Tournament Team they had Braden Gatling and Darrell Howze…From the High Point Central Bison, it was Josiah Hill and Adonai Tyrance, and both of those young men are juniors for the HP Central Bison….Gatling a sophomore and Howze a freshman for Southwest Guilford…..

Will try and get you folks some MORE content on this post, but like we have said before, we did not have total award-winning content on here tonight, but we did have plenty of it…Like my old farming neighbors used to say on Old Oak Ridge Road, back in the day….All we have out here is Cow Manure, but brothers and sisters, we have plenty of it…”Come and Get It”…..
