What we saw coming out of the tournament games from the HAECO and Sheetz and looking ahead toward all of the action, as it gets going again on Friday night….Some notes back from the Tournaments and how the standing might bear out at the end….Some good possible races, as we head into 2025….
The Mid-State 3-A boys regular season title is Smith’s for the taking, but after the Smith Golden Eagles, it is anybody’s game…The HP Central Bison boys team is a major 3-A contender, and they could end up finishing as high as second place in the Regular Season, in the Mid-State 3-A Conference….Coach Prince has his young men primed, and ready to go…
The Metro 4-A could go to a number of teams, and Southwest Guilford is right there in thick of things…If Grimsley still had Zacch Wiggins and Nick Keith, to go along with Faizon Brandon, the new Whitsett kid, Kaden Catoe, and the others, I would hate to try and stop that machine, but Wiggins and Keith are locked in at Wesleyan and the Trojans just “Took the Title” there in High Point, at the Sheetz Christmas Classic…Coach Vlazny has his SWG Cowboys ready also, and they plan on making some noise in the Metro 4-A Conference….
Good lineup of talent there this year, and it should keep getting better, as more kids spread their wings and fly around the county/area in search of the school that will give them the best chance of succeeding at the next level…We always try and level with you, and to be totally honest, the Wesleyan-Greensboro Day boys meetings and the girls meetings too for that matter, those meetings are going to be PRIME TIME…..Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, may want to try and get a seat for those Bengal-Trojan matchups….
According to the notes, GDS and WES have met once already at WES, with the GDS Bengals boys winning that contest, 53-44, in a very low-scoring affair…WES girls topped GDS, 66-58, in a game with plenty of points…Next meeting between GDS and WES, is January 28, at the Greensboro Day School…
Back into that Metro 4-A boys race with the SWG Cowboys in the hunt, and of all teams, Western Guilford is (3-0) and the top team for now, when they get going again next week with Conference action….It would almost be impossible to give a true favorite right now for the Boys this season in the Metro…SWG is at (2-1), along with several other teams, and Western on top, then you got SWG, Grimsley, NWG, Page, Northern, and that’s six teams right there with a chance to win it all for 2024-25…Any of those six could end up being the Metro 4-A Champion, and it could be the Southwest Guilford Cowboys…Ragsdale and Southeast Guilford look to be the two teams not in it for this year…More on the way…
Mid-State 3-A Boys Race:1)Smith, 2)High Point Central, 3)Dudley, 4)Northeast Guilford, 5)Rockingham County, 6)WS Atkins, 7)Southern Guilford, 8)Eastern Guilford….Josh Chavis at NEG might end up as Coach of the Year, if Coach Prince at HP Central doesn’t grab the honors…Mid-State 3-A teams back in action tomorrow night/Friday, with Dudley at Smith pretty big on the horizon over off of South Holden Road…
Metro 4-A boys with current standings standing out there for us….1)Western Guilford, 2)Northern, Grimsley, Southwest Guilford, Northwest Guilford all tied for #2 spot, and like we said before, it is anybody’s game…Page is at #6…Bottom two are Southeast Guilford and Ragsdale, and predictions would say SEG would top Ragsdale in the end…
Mid-State Girls Race Rough but here it is….
1)Smith, 2)Rockingham County, 3)Dudley, 4)Eastern Guilford, 5)Southern Guilford, 6)Northeast Guilford, 7)WS Atkins, 8)High Point Central
Metro 4-A Girls…1)Northwest Guilford, 2)Northern Guilford, 3)Grimsley, 4)Southeast Guilford, 5)Southwest Guilford, 6)Page, 7)Ragsdale, 8)Western Guilford…This girls race in the Metro 4-A should be a very good race…No dominant team, but some very good ones, at 1-8…Leen McField(NG), Lola Vanore(Page), Brook Parker(Ragsdale) all very sound/solid players, but many of the teams have loads of balance…
