Very solid night for Sophia and Sophie….Sophia Apple and Sophie Montana, with Apple the senior and Montana the freshman…Apple hitting 3s, frees/Free Throws, and she used the square real well nailing shots with the backboard square as her best friend…Saw her in warmups doing a drill where you take a short shot near the bucket and bank it in, and that is exactly what she did in the game, and proves the old adage is true, “Practice makes Perfect”….Apple showing steady and much needed leadership to her NWG Viking teammates…Montana playing really strong in every game I see her play…Floor general as they say, and tough as a dribble-driver to the basket…Strong little kid if that description can fit…Strong and little, but this Montana kid is the real deal…Much improved and better defense from SWG on her in the second half, but she was still getting to the basket…You better be ready for the Montana passes, because she will set you up…But you have to ready and looking for the passes, cause her passes are first-rate…For Southwest Guilford, it was What’s Up with that, What’s Up with that, What’s Up with that???? Yes, Taylor Watford was going wild for SWG down around the post hole, as the game was getting going…Watford was the Player of the Game for the Southwest Guilford Cowboys…I think she hit her first five shots of the game, without a miss, and she started out completely something like 6-8, with a Free Throw thrown in for good measure in the first half…Watford was an unknown to me, but sure know who she is now…Kid can go…Key for SWG is get that ball to Watfore more, and even if she is not taking the shot time through the passing sequence, make sure the ball is going to her and she is getting the touches…Get it going through Watford on the SWG Cowgirls offense…

Southwest Guilford boys 86, Northwest Guilford 79
SWG(9-4/5-1)..NWG(8-5/4-3)
End of First Quarter:SWG 20, NWG 14…Halftime:SWG 37, NWG 32…End of Third Quarter:SWG 56, NWG 48…Final:SWG 86, NWG 79

More on these games coming up…
It was 69 of the 86 Southwest Guilford Cowboys points, being scored by Savion Brooks(27), Brayden Gatling(21), and Darrell Howze(21)…The were the Big Three for SWG, and we know that Howze is a freshman, Gatling a sophomore, and Savion Brooks a junior…Getting major contributions from a pretty young and youthful lineup….All of the three were shooting the ball well, but the five 3s from Brooks really speaks volumes…He was nailing 3s from both the left and right sides of the court, and he may been just a bit better from the right, but he knows his corners well, and knows how to use the Long Ball….Howze is a post player/post man, but he knows how to come outside and pop the long range shots too…Howze with three 3s in the game…I do believe that both Brooks and Howze were also there at the rim, to throw down two very ferocious dunks…Those two, along with Gatling, were playing nasty out there tonight…For Gatling it was run the show, and he connected on 8 made Free Throws and that is a handful right there…Gatling also missed most of the SWG practices this past week due to illness..He did get in a few practice minutes back on Thursday, but he has been on the mend…And he still found the drive to produce 21 points in the SWG victory…When Gatling had to sit down due to running on empty after his sickness, Myles Graves took over and ran the point….SWG is quick and they were out there all over the place on defense…Hard to get your offense started vs. their defense…For Northwest it was another in a series of productive games for Conner Nix, and he had some help down low in the paint, in the form of Roman Solheim…Best I had seen Solheim play this year…NWG always gets the full motor from Dawson Esbrandt….Dawson can motor…His engine never runs on empty…Kid can bring it, and he can crush with his defensive prowess, if you give him a second to get set up on you, you will pay the price…Ball in the floor, mad scramble, and then a held ball…NWG is building, they have to get things the way they want them, and find out who they want on the court together in the crucial and clutch situations….Southwest looks like they are just getting ready, and as they get warmer, they are going to get better, and the Southwest Guilford boys/Cowboys, have a chance to win the Metro 4-A regular season….Coach Vlaz had things going right, and the trick is to keep the Cowboy Bus running down the road/court in the right direction….
