**********This girls game was a great game…Ragsdale grabbed an early 5-0 lead, then Northern Guilford came back and took over, and it took a while for Leena McField to get untracked but she did…There was a time in the early stages of the contest, where Ragsdale couldn’t buy a basket, and the Tigers weren’t really pressing the issue and taking the ball inside, Ragsdale was content to get the one and done, and when they were missing their outside shots, NG would the one-and-done missed shots and the Nighthawks would take the rock back upcourt, and they would nail the two…Leena McField did hit for three 3s, and she wears #3…Ragsdale was living and dying by the Three, and the Tigers did connect on 9 three-point shots…The Ragsdale Tigers really are a Three-point shooting team…Even their post player, Marlei stepped outside and canned a three-point shot…That is where the Tigers are making their money, living out there in the Three-Point range…Ragsdale got scoring from four players, and all four of them hit at least one Three-point shot…Yes, Ragsdale living and dying by the Three’s….Late in the game, Ragsdale had three separate chances to get back to even in this game, but that’s the closest the Tigers got, and the Coaching Committee recognizes the Nighthawk players for a great overall record…Ragsdale did get one break on their late attacks, and that happened when Brooke was off the mark on a soft jumper and they grabbed the rebound and thought about heading to the bucket…Northern Guilford could use some more height, and the Nighthawks are playing tall, even if they don’t have the length they feel like they need…Marlei Williams stepped back looking for another rebound, but the Ragsdale numbers were changing fast, and Ragsdale really could have really used that key one rebound….
More from one of the biggest wins, in school history…And that might just be that Western Guilford boys win over Northwest Guilford…The WG boys are really starting to show their stuff this season…More later as the notes become more available…
MORE to follow….In the Northern Guilford-Ragsdale girls game, Leena, Malena DeLisa, and Cara Trippett really played well for Northern…The two Boddie sisters, Brooke, and Marlei really stepping it up for the Ragsdale Tiger girls…Good to see Jonathan Frye as one of the assistant coaches for the Northern Guilford boys basketball team…He and I go back to sometime back around 2007 or so, when he came over to NG from High Point Central…Great young man, and good to see and hear that he is doing well….
