HPT HiToms Announce Lacrosse Schedule
High Point/Thomasville – The High Point Thomasville Hi-Toms announced today the schedule for the second annual HPT Lax Classic Saturday, February 22nd., at Greensboro College.
Presented by Flow Automotive, the 12 team, six game jamboree will feature schools from three Triad counties: Guilford, Forsyth and Davidson and spotlight both the best girls and boy’s scholastic lacrosse players.
Headlining the event will be perennial Triad lax powers R.J. Reynolds and Northwest Guilford as they square off in a boy’s match at 1:00 p.m. and follow with a girl’s game at 2:15. Bishop McGuinness’ boys and girls squads will start their state title quest at 3 and 4:15 pm with contests against Northern Guilford and Reagan respectively.
One exciting addition to the HPT Lax Classic will be the television broadcast of the Bishop McGuinness/Regan girls game and Northern Guilford/Bishop McGuinness boys contest on WMYV Channel 48 Sunday, February 23rd. Live streamed Saturday via the HiToms media platforms, the tape delay broadcast is set for Sunday on WMYV Channel 48 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
“ABC News 45 and My 48 TV are thrilled to partner with the HPT HiToms to expand our station’s coverage of Triad area high school sports,” ABC News 45 General Manager Allison Aldridge said. “Broadcasting our first-ever high school lacrosse contest is an exciting step forward, and we are committed to bringing more opportunities for young athletes to shine on a larger stage.”
Partnering with Greensboro College and Flo Automotive to host the event, the HPT Classic will feature an impressive lineup of future Division 1 women’s players: Sophia Apple (Northwest Guilford) East Carolina, two-time All-State selection and Penn State signee Kate Dennen (Bishop McGuinness) and Presbyterian College signee Ella Suire (Bishop McGuinness).
On the men’s side, future college players abound as well with Parker Peters (Northern Guilford), Long Island University, Matthew Cetrone (Bishop McGuinness), Catawba College, Tucker Saums (Northwest Guilford), Grove City College, Cole Rigsbee (Northwest Guilford), Methodist and Nathan Cox (Northwest Guilford), North Greenville.
