Men’s Golf Claims First Place at Dorado Beach Collegiate

DORADO, PUERTO RICO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team finished in first place in the 16-team field at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Tuesday in Dorado, Puerto Rico, at TPC Dorado Beach behind a total score of 29-under-par (835).

Tuesday’s win marks the team’s third first-place finish this season. UNCG also finished first at the Bryan National Collegiate on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, and the Elon Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.

TEAM
UNCG carded rounds of 273-279-283 over the three-day tournament for an overall score of 29-under-par (835).
Southern Mississippi secured the runner-up position at the tournament with a 21-under-par (843).
The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford concluded the tournament in a tie for fifth place with Loyola Maryland with a 13-under-par (851).
The Spartans bested all teams with 63 birdies and a 3.10 par three average.
UNCG finished in a tie with Loyola Maryland with four team eagles.
UNCG placed second with a 4.03 par four average and a 4.42 par five average.
INDIVIDUAL
Colin Dutton and Jack Marcotte finished on top for the Spartans in a tie for fourth place behind an eight-under-par (208).
Dutton moved up 13 positions from the second round after notching a five-under-par (67) in the third round for his fourth-place finish. Dutton posted a one-over-par (73) and four-under-par (68) in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Marcotte posted rounds of 68-67-73 to secure his fourth-place finish. He finished in a four-way tie for second place in the field with 16 birdies.
Kelvin Hernandez finished in a tie for 11th place with a six-under-par (210). The sophomore posted a team-best seven-under-par (65) in the first round.
Jake Lewis concluded the three-day event in a tie for 17th place with a three-under-par (213). Lewis posted a three-under-par (69) in the opening round before carding back-to-back even pars in the second and third rounds.
B.J. Boyce concluded the tournament in a tie for 35th place with an even par (216) with rounds of 71-74-71.
Liam Percy, Will Guidry, Keenan Royalty and Andrew Graham rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans in individual play.
Percy, Guidry and Graham all carded their best score of the tournament in the final round with an even par score (72).
Percy finished in 54th place with a four-over-par (220).
Guidry notched a seven-over-par (223) in the three-day tournament to finish tied for 69th place.
Royalty posted an eight-over-par (224) to conclude the event tied for 73rd place.
Graham followed closely behind to finish in a tie for 76th place with a nine-over-par (225).
