NC State Takes Midweek Game from Baseball
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team was handed a 10-0 loss in non-conference action by the NC State Wolfpack on Tuesday evening at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
After NC State’s Justin DeCriscio reached third to start the game, Luke Nixon grounded out to second to give the Wolfpack the game’s first lead, 1-0.
The Wolfpack extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth frame when Chris McHugh sent a two-run no-doubt home run over the wall in left.
After Jake Colucci hung three straight scoreless frames pitching in relief against the Wolfpack for the Spartans, NC State posted a five-run inning in the eighth to make it 8-0. The runs scored on five hits with help from two errors. It started with an RBI triple by Matt Heavner and was followed by an RBI single through the left side, which scored Chris McHugh. Alex Sosa and Josh Hogue then broke it open with home runs to tack on three more runs, making it 8-0
NC State scored two more times during the ninth inning to cap an eventual 10-0 victory.
NOTES:
Luke Jenkins led UNCG with a pair of hits.
Colucci allowed no runs in three relief innings and had two strikeouts.
Jenkins and Zachary Walsh had one stolen base each.
Both teams left seven runners on base.

The Spartans will host the Elon Phoenix on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., two hours later than scheduled at UNCG Baseball Stadium due to the potential for storms earlier in the day.
