UNCG got on the board first in the opening stanza to take a 1-0 lead. After Jeremy Wolf led off with a triple into the corner in right, Trey Truitt chopped a single to second to score Wolf.

Radford scored its first runs in the top of the third inning when Breckin Nace doubled to left to score Hunter Keen before scoring in the next at-bat on a single to left by James Ward. Nace then drove in a pair with a base knock through the right side to score Corbin Grantham and Perez. After four and a half innings, Radford carried a four-run lead over UNCG, 7-3.

The Spartans cut the deficit to three, 7-4, in the bottom of the fifth inning when Wolf hit a leadoff double, stole third and then scored on a single up the middle by Dilley.

Tyler Sparrer tacked on two more runs for the Highlanders during the sixth when he blooped a single into right-center with the bases loaded, making it 9-4 Radford.

Parker Wight hit his first collegiate home run out to right-center in the bottom of the seventh to score himself and Dilley, cutting the deficit to 9-6 for the Spartans.
