Ragsdale vs. Grimsley at First National Bank in downtown Greensboro and I caught portions of the JV game with Ragsdale leading Grimsley at one stage of this game, 7-1…The varsity game was set to follow the Grimsley-Ragsdale JV game…
Left the downtown ballpark and headed over to watch some of the Eastern Guilford at Dudley game being played at the Ray Crawford Baseball Field, at James B. Dudley HS…This was the first game the Dudley Panthers were playing on their home field this season…First home game for Dudley in 2025, and Dudley had some work scheduled to be done on the Ray Crawford Field in the offseason, and the people that were supposed to be doing the work bailed/took off…
This left Dudley in a bind, as they were trying to get ready for the home portion of their 2025 season…Dudley was able to bounce back and get many people in the Dudley community to step up with financial donations, and the Dudley Panthers faithful stepped up went to work to do the work on the field themselves…Others from other schools even stepped in to lend a helping hand…The Dudley Boosters were able to use Facebook as a way to reach out and ask for help from the local citizens…And it worked…The proof was in the Panthers’ pudding today, with Dudley enjoying being back home, for some home baseball action at THEIR place, the Panthers’ Baseball Place, “The Ray Crawford Baseball Field”…Home back in the day for players like Corey Kimber, Ronnie Kimber, Ronnie Burkes, Brandon Burkes, Ray Crawford Jr., Tevin Neal, Randy Norris Jr., and many MORE…
When I pulled out tonight, it was the top of the fifth inning, there at Dudley HS, and the score was Dudley 6, Eastern Guilford 2…Antonio Lee Jr./AJ Lee Jr., who is a Dudley Panthers’ senior, was on the hill for Dudley and he was throwing hard, but Lee was having trouble with his control and location…Not sure if Lee would be in line to get the win, but Dudley was going to the pen, there in fifth…
Dudley seems to have their groove back, and the Panthers have re-found their home field advantage as they now get to play home games again, at HOME…Dudley was (5-1) in the Mid-State 3-A Conference coming into this game, and the Panthers, coached by former Dudley Panthers football and baseball player, James ‘Tre’ Perry, were sitting at (6-4) overall, prior to today’s game with Eastern Guilford…I heard from Dudley’s AD Atoris Bryant this morning, and he said I need to get on over see how things are looking, and that is how I ended up at Dudley, on this Friday afternoon…Also for Dudley today, while I was watching the action unfold vs. Eastern Guilford, Brayden Jeffries had a two-run Triple for Dudley, and he also had another RBI, giving him three(3) RBI, while I was checking out today’s contest…Good stuff going on over there at Dudley today, and I spent a lot of my time, talking and conversing with Eastern Guilford assistant football coach, and baseball team bus driver, Alex Cox…Cox played football back in high school, for the legendary Coach Fritz Hessenthaler, at Southeast Guilford High School…
Final Score on Eastern Guilford at Dudley HS:
