Greensboro Grasshoppers 9, Jersey Shore BlueClaws 4

Hoppers' Line-9-9-1 Claws' Line- 4-6-0
Hoppers(10-4)/BlueClaws(5-9)
Greensboro Grasshoppers with 3 Home Runs in this game, and it was like we were living on The LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network…But the real story of this game just might have been the mound work from Grasshoppers starting pitcher, Connor Wietgrefe, and from his bullpen mate that followed him, Franck De La Rosa…Wietgrefe worked the first four innings of the game and he gave up 0 Runs, on 0 Hits, with 0 BBs, and 5 Ks…Wietgrefe only allowed one baserunner and that BlueClaw reached on a ground ball throwing error from Wietgrefe, and on the the throw, he made a lob-toss to first baseman Esmerlyn Valdez, and if Wietgrefe would have made the underhand toss, he my have been able to get the runner, Raylin Heredia, from JS…
Wietgrefe pitched a gem, and when De La Rosa came in for him, the No-Hitter continued, with De La Rosa walking two batters and he struck out three BlueClaws…So we can look back on this and say that Wietgrefe and De La Rosa kept that No-Hitter going for six innings, but for some reason, when Jack Carey came in to take over in the Top of the Seventh Inning, he did not have his best stuff going on Saturday evening…
Carey, the former Duke University Blue Devil right-hander, he gave up four runs on five hits, and one of those five hits was a Three-Run Triple from Jersey Shore’s Raylin Heredia…JS came up with five straight hits and the Claws were able to put a big dent in the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ lead…Jack Carey got scuffed up in the seventh inning, but to his credit, he came back out and worked the eighth inning, and got the JS BlueClaws, three-up/three-down…
Ryan Harbin took care of the pitching for the Hoppers in the Top of the Ninth, he gave up 0 Runs, on One hit, with 0 BBs/1 K…And during the game, we were so caught up with the Hoppers hitting those Three Large LONG GONE Home Runs, on the LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network, that we almost did not catch onto the real importance of the Wietgrefe and De La Rosa pitching effort…You could almost end up getting lost on how well they were throwing, and especially Wietgrefe, since it was his first outing this season…
But in the end, it became very evident how strong the Greensboro Grasshoppers pitching was working, and for sure the bats were working pretty darn good too, with the Three-Run HR from Javier Rivas, plus the solo HRs coming from Emmanuel Terrero and Lonnie White Jr. Rivas and White both also homered on Friday night, and with Saturday’s totals, it gave Rivas 8 RBI over the last two games…
Both clubs put together nice spurts in the contest, with the Hoppers scoring five of their nine runs in second inning, to go up 5-0 in the ballgame, while Jersey Shore put up their four-spot in the Top of the Seventh Inning…The Hoppers had taken a 7-0 lead into the 7th inning, before the Claws busted loose for their only four runs of the game, in the top of the 7th frame…On Friday night, the Claws had led 7-0 going to the bottom of the second…
In the hits department, every Hopper hitter had at least one base hit, with the exception of Keiner Delgado, and he scored two runs, after drawing two walks…Everybody was getting involved for the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the only player with a multihit night was Emmanuel Terrero, who was 2-4, with a run, and two RBI, and he also had that solo Home Run…Duce Gourson was 1-4/BB/Run, and Gourson grabbed his 11th stolen base of the young season…Valdez went 1-4/Run/RBI…Rivas was 1-3, with that Three-Run HR…Maikol Escotto goes 1-2/BB/Run/RBI…Lonnie White Jr. 1-4/HR…Shalin Polanco 1-4/Double/Run…Geovanny Planchart was 1-4/RBI…All Hoppers on Deck, and all Hoppers adding to the team’s success, on Saturday night…
Raylin Heredia goes 1-4/HR/3 RBI to pace the BlueClaws, then you had Pierce Bennett going 2-3/BB/Run…But, let me leave you with this note….The top four batters in the Jersey Shore lineup, went a combined 0-16…Rincon, Saltiban, Campbell, and Lopez all go 0-4….
That should give us most of the numbers we need to close this one out…But let’s look back at our favorite Game Details listing…
