From our LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network report…
The Hoppers had a 5-2 lead at the end of fifth inning…Then they began to let Rome back in the game….Not going to write a ton on this game, best to let it roll on, and get set for the next outing…But the Hoppers allowed the Rome Emperors to tie the game up at 5-5, in the seventh inning, and then Rome took a 6-5 with another solo HR in the eighth inning, before the Grasshoppers evened the score at 6-6, with two Doubles in bottom of the eighth inning…
Things were all tied up at 6-6, and then we go into the Ten Inning…That’s where the Hoppers kind of, sort of ended up making a cluster mess…The ghost runner Ambioris Taveras scored, then Harry Owen scored, next it was Bryson Horne coming in to score for the Emps, and then last, but not least, Rome’s Jace Grady crossed home plate…That was like four runs, on two hits, with two walks, and two Hopper errors…That is what I am talking about with the cluster mess…In that mess, you had a Hit by Pitch, an Intentional Base on Balls, the pitcher throwing the ball away going to third base when the runner had not moved, and an infielder not realizing he could have taken one step back and been on the bag at second and came up with at least one out, instead of none…Again, a real cluster mess there…
(Rome ended up batting around in the 10th Inning, and even their ghost runner Tavarez came to plate.)
But, like we said, time to load up and move on…Sort of a Crazy Ending, but the Hoppers still take the Rome Series, 4-2…And the Hoppers have not lost a series all season long…And the Hoppers did have Four LONG GONE Home Runs on Sunday, with Keiner Delgado, Lonnie White Jr., and Jesus Castillo all connecting for Solo HRs. and Shalin Polanco smacking a two-run Home Run…
