First Day of Football Practice at Western Guilford HS on Wednesday afternoon and I was there at the same place for Football Practice 50 years ago this week

Driving into the Western Guilford High School parking lot today, there at the home of the WG Hornets, it reminded me of driving into that same lot, 50 years ago, back in the Summer of 1975, as we began football practice there in my senior year of high school…Wow, that is going back a few years, but the names have changed, but they are still going hard at Western Guilford 50 years later, and we all know, that there is plenty of work to be done…

Let’s join the WG Hornets today, for the first day of practice, in 2025…Had to be in the gym today to start off practice, it was just too hot to be outside….Started inside, and moved outside later on, when things began to cool down…Coach Anthony Timmons, had us in there, in the Bill Hollifield Gym at Western Guilford today, and here we go, with what was going on…..

Offensive Linemen getting on getting low, with a good solid base, and then driving the man in front of them, as they do their work in the weight room…

WG big linemen, still driving, and learning to get it right…And left…

On both sides of the ball, it is all about the correct Movement, Movement, Movement….

Got to get up, find the high point, catch the ball and create the pick, and then be sure to say, BINGO…

Linemen, getting that proper burst, surge, and explosion off the line of scrimmage…

Changing locations, and heading to a new station/area…

More response and reacation work, and then time to change locations…

Live Defense, chase and go and get the ball…

Chase that ball carrier…Got to find that rabbit…

Got to watch out for that Sneaky Reverse…

One more time, and can you catch that guy before he gets to the corner….

You did not do it right, do it again, and Catch that Ball Carrier…

This guy is already LONG GONE….
