Cyr Nabs First Place at Nat Green Revenge Triathlon Sprint
Trio of Quakers compete at local competition
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sadie Cyr (Hadley, Mass.) topped the collegiate women’s field at the Nat Greene Revenge Triathlon Sprint for the Guilford College triathlon team on Saturday morning at Lake Brandt in Greensboro.
The freshman had a banner day for the Quakers, coming in first place in a field of eleven competitors. Positioning herself well with the top mark in the swim portion, at 13:42, Cyr maintained it with top-five times of 42:33 on the bike, and 28:02 for her run culminating in a chip time of 1:25:08.12
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) and Bec Cormack (Forest Park, Ill.) rounded out the competition for the Quakers, finishing 10th and 11th respectively. Parnell recorded times of 16:38 for her swim portion, 50:37 on the bike, and a 29:54 run for a chip time of 1:38:28.27. Cormack had a final chip time of 1:44:31.87 after combining her times of 17:43 (swim), 46:07 (bike), and (39:28 (run).
Triathlon will return for their next competition on Saturday, October 25th at the NCAA East Regional Championships in Raleigh, N.C./Lake Norman. Start time to be determined.

Women’s Soccer Stifled By No. 15 Washington & Lee
Quakers cannot overcome first-half deficit in defeat.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College women’s soccer team (7-2-2, 1-2-0 ODAC) dropped a Saturday afternoon contest to No. 15 nationally ranked Washington & Lee University (7-2-1, 3-0-0 ODAC), 4-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action at Appenzeller Field at the Armfield Athletic Center.
Lorelai Lis (Bradenton, Fla.) went the distance for Guilford and equaled her career-high with four saves on 24 shots, but also conceded four goals even despite some friendly posts in the first half. She dropped to 4-2-0 as a result. Kate McEnroe was the first of three Generals keepers in the game and did have to make a single save on the two looks in her direction in the first half, but handled it to improve to 8-2-1.
Emily Parker (Lillington, N.C.) mustered the only Quaker shot on target, managing two in the game. Ainsley Yates (West End, N.C.) and Ashlyn Miller (Charlotte, N.C.) also attempted shots.
Elizabeth Zimmerman netted half of the four W&L tallies, including the game-winner. Maren Brown and McKenna Reh added tallies later. Bryn Bissinger dished two helpers and Sarah Zimmerman was credited with a single assist in the contest.
Overall, Washington & Lee maintained a 24-4 edge in shot attempts, although it was just 8-1 in shots on goal. They also earned 10 of the game’s 11 corner kicks.
The guests opened the scoring in the 20th minute. On a corner kick from right side of goal, Bissinger sent a feed across the box that Guilford got first contact of, but failed to clear. Instead, a scrum in front of net ensued and, in the chaos, Elizabeth Zimmerman was able to redirect the ball with her upper-legs from off the right post and into the net for her second goal of the year.
She netted her third goal of the season just over six minutes later as the Generals pushed the tempo on a counter-attack down center of pitch. Sarah Zimmerman hit her sister with a short through pass to about 20 yards out, straight away and Elizabeth Zimmerman sent a strike with her right foot to bottom-right of net in the 27th minute.
The third W&L score came in the 44th minute of play off a set piece for a corner on the left side. Bissinger perfectly placed her ball at the top of 6’ off left post and Brown did the dead, heading it into the middle of the net for her first goal of the year.
In the second half, Reh polished the scoring with a breakaway down left wing, eventually turning the corner and taking a shot from off left post into right side of net for her first of the year, finalizing the score at 4-0 in the 71st minute.
The Quakers remain home for an ODAC Quarterfinals rematch with Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025. Kickoff at Appenzeller is set for 5:30 PM.
