UNCG’s Seth Wilson Wins SoCon Defensive Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C.– Seth Wilson of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career, the league announced Tuesday.
The Frisco, Texas, native earned his third SoCon Defensive Player of the Week award for his career against No. 5 High Point and SoCon foe VMI last week. Wilson tied his career-high in saves with five as the Spartans upset the Panthers 2-0 Wednesday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium. This was the first time this season that High Point was shutout in a game.
Against VMI Wilson and the Spartan defense held the Keydets to just two shots, and UNCG secured its second clean sheet of the week and third of the season in the 2-0 victory.
“I’m honored to be recognized again as Defensive Player of the Week,” said Wilson, “I couldn’t do it without my teammates and coaches pushing me every day and putting me in positions to succeed.”
