Wesleyan Christian Academy Announces 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

High Point, NC: Wesleyan Christian Academy is honored to announce the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of
2025, recognizing nine remarkable alumni and coaches whose athletic achievements and
Christ-centered leadership have shaped the legacy of Trojan athletics. Their stories reflect excellence,
perseverance, and a deep commitment to Wesleyan’s mission to partner with families in equipping
students to serve Christ and influence the world.

The 2025 inductees will be formally recognized on Friday, December 12, during halftime of the Varsity
Men’s Basketball game.

The 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees include:
* Brandon Childress (Class of 2016)
A standout on the basketball court, Brandon Childress played a pivotal role in elevating Wesleyan’s
basketball program to national prominence. Known for his exceptional skill, leadership, and
competitive drive, Brandon continued his career at Wake Forest University, where he played four
years of Division I men’s basketball and graduated in 2020. Brandon and his father now hold the
all-time ACC record for most points scored by a father-son duo. After college, he launched a
professional basketball career overseas and continues to excel internationally, currently
competing in Turkey. Brandon’s journey from Wesleyan to the NCAA to the global stage is a
testament to dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to honoring Christ through excellence.

* Chris Engle (Class of 2004)
A dominant baseball player, Chris excelled as both a position player and pitcher. He was a
three-time All-Conference and All-State selection and earned the title of 2004 NCISAA Baseball
Player of the Year. Chris was also named the 2004 WCA Male Trojan Athlete of the Year. His
outstanding high school career led him to North Carolina State University, where he continued
competing at the collegiate level.

* Glen Foster (Athletic Director, 2012 to 2020)
During his tenure as Wesleyan’s Athletic Director, Glen oversaw 32 teams and managed the
logistics, planning, and support required to help each one thrive. He coordinated numerous
athletic events, including state championship meets and tournaments, and ensured that every
team had the necessary resources for excellence. Under his leadership, Wesleyan teams secured
numerous state championships across multiple sports, including men’s basketball, baseball,
soccer, and others. Glen’s steady leadership, administrative excellence, and commitment to
serving coaches and athletes strengthened the entire athletic department.

* Angela Gravely (Class of 1989)
A volleyball standout, Angela served as setter and team captain for Wesleyan’s first state
championship volleyball team. She credits her senior year and the influence of Coach Brenda Cook
for shaping her path as a leader in her personal and professional life. Following her graduation
from Wesleyan and Liberty University, Angela became an educator across elementary, middle, and
high school levels and now serves as a university professor while completing her doctorate. Her
life reflects the impact of Christian mentorship and the transformative power of athletics in
developing faithful leaders.

* Dawn (Laws) Hamilton (Class of 1992)
A multi-sport standout, Dawn excelled across all three sports seasons. In the fall, she served as
team captain and became both an individual state champion and doubles state runner-up in
tennis. In winter, she captained the women’s basketball team to a state runner-up finish while
earning All-State honors. In spring, she contributed to Wesleyan’s first women’s soccer team,
which finished as state runner-up, and she earned All-Conference honors in softball. Dawn was
named the 1992 Female Trojan Athlete of the Year. Her versatility, competitiveness, and leadership
made her one of Wesleyan’s most accomplished all-around athletes.

* Scott Reitnour (Coach, 2003 to 2024)
A transformational coach and teacher, Scott dedicated 23 years to Wesleyan, serving as a varsity
boys’ soccer coach and high school teacher of philosophy, government, and economics. His
coaching accomplishments are extraordinary: 17 state semifinal appearances, 12 state
championship game appearances, and 8 NCISAA state championship titles. His teams were ranked
in the national top ten by the United Soccer Coaches Association four times. Beyond the field,
Scott founded the Imago Dei Soccer Academy and the Wesleyan Instructional Soccer League, both
of which serve as ministries to develop young athletes in their skills and in their walk with Christ.
He led international mission trips and inspired players to serve the High Point community,
collectively logging hundreds of service hours each year. Scott now serves at Houghton University
as the Men’s Head Soccer Coach, Director of Sports Ministry, and Associate Athletic Director.

* Lee Rickman (Class of 2008, Deceased)
A gifted soccer player, Lee earned NCISAA All-State honors in 2007 and continued his career at
Bryan College, where he became a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame. He played on Bryan’s
2011 team that advanced to the NAIA National Championship playoffs. Lee played an instrumental
role in the creation of the Imago Dei Soccer Program at Wesleyan, which continues to serve young
athletes today. Known for his joy, humility, and deep love for Wesleyan and its soccer community,
Lee left a legacy that continues to inspire. He passed away in 2015, but his impact remains deeply
felt across the Trojan family.

* Ronnie Smith (Coach, 1984 to 1990, Deceased)
A dedicated coach who led Wesleyan’s softball program, Ronnie Smith exemplified Christ-like
leadership in all he did. He coached several conference championship teams and poured deeply
into the lives of his players, encouraging them to grow both athletically and spiritually. His
influence extended far beyond wins and losses as he helped young athletes develop character,
confidence, and faith. Coach Smith passed away in 2021, but his impact remains deeply ingrained
in the history of Wesleyan athletics.

* Lee Teague (Class of 1989)
A prolific goal scorer and dynamic soccer player, Lee earned Conference Player of the Year honors
three times and All-State recognition his senior year. As a standout under Coach David Sanford,
Lee helped build the foundation for what would become one of North Carolina’s strongest
Christian school soccer programs. His competitive spirit and leadership helped establish a culture
of excellence that endures to this day.

“Each of these individuals has played a meaningful role in the story of Wesleyan Christian Academy,” said
