from Friday’s Men’s Bracket:Greensboro Day School defeated Raleigh Millbrook, 81-49
Plus…..
RALEIGH, N.C. – Little Washington, big win.
The Pack Pam didn’t just get their first win in the John Wall Holiday Invitational Tournament, they ended a historic run in the Tar Heel state.
Despite 42 points from Dionte Neal, Washington defeated Reidsville, 78-74, in the Rudy Watson Bracket.
The loss for the Rams ended a 63-game win streak, which was the longest for any team in the state coming into the annual holiday tournament.
During that streak, Reidsville won two state championships, led by Neal, the UNC-Greensboro signee who was the Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. For the last three years Neal was part of a historic one-two punch with 6-7 center Kendre Harrison. Harrison is now at the University of Oregon, enrolling early to play football for the Ducks.
The Rams came into the game at 3-0, averaging 79 points per game. They ran up against a Pam Pack team that looks to contend for a state title in March.
Washington’s only loss so far this season was at Farmville Central, 93-88 in overtime. The last team to beat Reidsville in basketball, you asked? Farmville Central in the state championship game back in 2023, Neal’s freshman year.
The Rams went a perfect 29-0 in 2023-24, and 31-0 last season. In each of those years, Reidsville won their bracket at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.
