Baseball Smashes North Carolina A&T, 13-1, at First National Bank Stadium

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team toppled the North Carolina A&T Aggies, 13-1, on Tuesday night at First National Bank Field. This is the first away run-rule for the Spartans since April 20, 2024, at Radford.

The Aggies struggled on the mound early, walking the first three UNCG batters of the game to load the bases. Luke Jenkins stepped in the box and delivered a sacrifice fly to put the Spartans up 1-0 early. N.C. A&T tagged UNCG starter Isaac Miles early, scoring a run after back-to-back singles to knot up the game at one apiece. However, Miles settled in thereafter, going five full innings with just three hits allowed, one run, two walks, four strikeouts and a win. The Spartans added two runs in the second frame, with Ethan Brittain driving home Brantley Truitt on a single, then Jacob Barbour bringing home Brittain thanks to a fielding error to put the score at 3-1.
UNCG’s offense continued to hum as they scored one run in both the third and fourth innings to extend its lead to 5-1. The Spartans really broke the game open in the top of the fifth. Two hit batters by the Aggies and then an additional walk loaded the bases for Jacob Dilley who is the most dangerous batter in the UNCG lineup batting .429 coming into tonight. The junior from Boone, North Carolina, delivered as he smacked single deep to center field that scored two RBIS that broke the game open.

“I feel confident when I’m up to bat,” said Dilley after the game. “It’s really thanks to my teammates and the coaching staff around me that push me every day.”

Barbour and Jake Mueller brought across one run each to bring the score to 9-1 after five. In the sixth inning, the Spartans added four more runs with two coming from the red-hot Dilley to put him at four RBIs in the contest to bring the game to the final score of 13-1.
