UNCG Track Opens Outdoor Season with Bob Davidson Memorial

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s and women’s track teams begin the outdoor season this weekend traveling across the Triad to compete in the Bob Davidson Memorial, hosted by High Point at Vert Stadium.
The Spartans will only compete on Saturday of the two-day meet with the track events beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s events will be streamed on ESPN+ from 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

UNCG completed the indoor season at the 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by VMI from Feb. 27-28.
Four Spartans earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors, including Emery Anderson (400m), Spencer Slayton (3000m), Luke Hühn (3000m & 5000m) and Camryn Oates (3000m).
Both of the Spartans’ men’s and women’s 4x400m-relay teams broke school records.
The men’s quartet of Anderson, Glodi Mvovi, Samuel Barnard and Logan Ruffner posted a time of 3:21.26, breaking the 2025 mark of 3:23.89 from the GVSU Big Meet Saturday that Mvovi, Brodie Schneider, Andrew Hamilton and Barnard held.
The women’s quartet of Ayzia Jefferson, Lily Butler, Chelsea Valdivia-Rizo and Alana Hill broke a six-year UNCG record in the 4×400-meter relay. The previous mark was 4:10.34, held by Ashlyn Dalton, Kristin Hogan, Kelsey Barrett and Alycia Higgins, at the 2020 SoCon Indoor Championships.
Khalid Abdullahi’s personal best time of 4:08.61 in the mile run is now second in the UNCG records after finishing fifth out of 12 competitors.
Hailey Meyers posted a personal best time of 17:17.82 in the 5000-meter run, improving her previous time by 52 seconds. This time placed her fifth out of 17 competitors in the event and it is now third in UNCG records.
UP NEXT
UNCG is scheduled to compete at the Raleigh Relays from March 26-28 in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Paul Derr Track.
