Game Summary:
Attendance-2,153
Time of Game-2:57
Game Time Temp-52 Degrees

Hoppers down early in this game, 4-0…Made it 4-1 on a solo Home Run from Lonnie White Jr. Then the Hoppers moved in front for the first time on the day, when Axiel Plaz connected for a Grand Slam Home Run, and that made the score 5-4 Hoppers…The Tourists posted two runs in the sixth inning, to move back on top, 6-5, over the Greensboro Grasshoppers…The Hoppers stayed within range, adding runs late to cut the Tourists’ lead to 8-6, going into the bottom of ninth inning…The Hoppers loaded up the bases with back-to-back-to-back-to-back walks, but could only muster one run off of Asheville reliever Eurys Martich, who walked those four Hopper batters, but he was able to escape the bases-loaded jam, and got out of the inning, and the Tourists were able to preserve the victory, when the Hoppers hit into a game-ending double play…Sad way to close out the day, and the Grasshoppers battled, but were not able to extend their season-opening winning streak to five games….Final score, 8-7, Tourists…..

To the victor goes the spoils and the Asheville Tourists were Wednesday Winners, at First National Bank Field…Axiel Plaz led the Hoppers in hitting again, going 2-5, with his Grand Slam Home Run being the big blow in the contest…He is our REMAX Revolution Player of the Game for the second straight contest…There were also Hopper hits for Lonnie White Jr. with his solo HR, plus singles came from Jared Jones, Easton Carmichael, and Matt King….Narbe Cruz was 3-4 for the Tourists, with two runs scored…Chase Call, Jared Schiavone, and Justin Thomas Jr., all homered for Asheville…

Really surprised that Asheville, and their pitcher in the ninth inning, Eurys Martich, were able to survive this encounter…Looked the Greensboro Grasshoppers were on their way to another victory, there in the last frame of the game, when they had the bases full of Hoppers, and nobody out…But, here comes that Double Play, and the game, plus the four-game winning streak are history…

Next Up we have the Asheville Tourists at the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday night at 6:30pm, at First National Bank…First Thirsty Thursday, of the season, at FNB Field…Mark it on your schedules, the Friday game times are set for 7pm this season…Be sure to Listen Live to games on GSOHoppers.com, when you CLICK HERE…..And thanks for listening/tuning in…
