Greensboro Grasshoppers 4, Asheville Tourists 3…11 Innings
WP:Inmer Lobo(1-0)/LP:Francisco Frias(0-1)
Hoppers- 4-6-0 Tourists-3-8-0
Greensboro Grasshoppers’ record now at (5-1), and the Asheville Tourists fall to (2-4)…
Hopppers win it with a Bases-Loaded walk issued to Jared Jones, and that forced in Wyatt Sanford from third base, for the Winning Greensboro run…A bases-loaded walk to win it for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, as Jones gets the Game-Winning RBI, and the Game-Winning Run goes to Sanford….
Greensboro had the bases loaded, with No Outs on Wednesday afternoon, and had received four straight free passes/walks, but could not get home the Game-Winner, but on Thursday night, the Hoppers were in a very similar situation, and they claimed the victory…Never look a gift horse in the mouth twice…The Grasshoppers rode the Gift Horse into the Winner’s Circle on Thursday night…
Our REMAX Revolution Player of the Game Award goes out to Jacob Bimbi on Thursday…LHP Bimbi came on in relief, and relieve he did, going 2 1/3 Innings, and he gave up 0 Runs, on 1 Hit, with 1 BB/5 Ks…Bimbi struck out five of the first six batters he faced….The Hoppers took an early 2-0 lead, and then fell behind 3-2, before they tied the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning, and sent this one, on into extra innings..
The interesting twist to this contest, was how the Greensboro Grasshoppers scored their runs…Every run scored by the Hoppers in regulation time, were scored by way of the SOLO HOME RUN…Three separate LOOOOOOOOONG GONE Home Runs, on the LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network….
Greensboro got those solo blasts from Jack Brannigan, who led off the the bottom of the first inning with his shot to center field…One inning later, in the bottom of the second, Easton Carmichael connected on a bomb to left field…And then Lonnie White Jr. tied the game up at 3-All, with his lined smack to left, in the bottom of the eighth inning…Three Solo LOOOOOOOONG GONE home runs, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers stayed in business long enough to grab the decision…
Jack Brannigan finished the night 2-4 with his HR, and the one run scored…Lonnie White Jr. was 2-4/BB, with his HR, and the run scored…Easton Carmichael had a productive night on offense, going 1-2, he had his HR, one run scored, and he drew two BBs…The Hoppers had just six hits as a team…
For the Asheville Tourists, Jason Schiavone homered with his second of the season, and he finised 1-5 on the evening…Cesar Hernandez went 1-3, and he had a Two-Run Triple, plus he drove in Two Runs, with his three-bag hit to right field…Hernandez also walked…Overall Kyle Walker led the Tourists team in hitting going 2-5…Drew Brutcher was 1-2, and he scored one run, and he walked Three Times…Asheville had a total of eight team hits…
Cole Hertzler got the start for Asheville and he went fairly solid over his five inning outing, giving up Two Runs, on Three Hits, with 1 Walk, and 8 Strikeouts…Hoppers’ starting pitcher Calos Castillo lasted four innings, and he allowed 2 Runs, on 3 Hits, with 4 BBs/6 Ks…Hertzler gave up Two Hopper Homers, and Castillo gave up none…
Jacob Bimbi was the most impressive Hopper on the night, and then you have to like the job Inmer Lobo did in earning the win, going an Inning and a-third, and giving up 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 BBs, with 2 Ks…
Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win Again, and that was sort of a different ending on Thursday night, with the finish being, a Walk-off Walk…
Back to it, and Up Next on Friday night you have, the Asheville Tourists(2-4) at the Greensboro Grasshoppers(5-1), with that new start time for Fridays, at 7pm…Little extra time for you and your family to get out to the ballpark at First National Bank Field…There will be NO Fireworks Friday, due to the Statewide Burn Ban…And remember, if you can’t make it to the game, you can join us be Listening Live, when you CLICK HERE for GSOHoppers.com and the LOOOOOOOONG GONE Baseball Radio Network…
