Emperors' Line-11-10-0
Hoppers' Line-3-5-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers see their record fall to (12-7), while the Rome Emperors move up to (9-10) with the Friday night Victory…Rome now leads the weekly Best-of-Six-Games Series, 3-1…The Grasshoppers need to win on both Saturday and Sunday, to get a split in this Series…Saturday Night at 6:30pm, and Sunday at 2pm for the final games in this week’s Hoppers-Emperors matchups…

The seven-run Fourth Inning by Rome, killed the home team’s chances of winning on Friday night…The Hopper-killer in this contest was Rome’s Dixon Williams…The man with two last names, Mr. Dixon/Mr. Williams, he just ripped the Hoppers hearts to shreds…In the first inning, with two outs and a runner(Eric Hartman) at first base for the Emperors, all Dixon Williams did for Rome was touch first, second, third, and home…Dixon Williams hit a deep fly ball off of the center field fence, and the ball stayed in the park, but when it hit that fence, the baseball rolled all the way up the field, into shallow center field, and while that ball was rolling, Dixon Williams was running and rolling all the way around the bases, and he ended up with a clean Inside-the-Park Two-Run Home Run…And you don’t see that, all that often…An Inside-the-Park HR, of all things…

And Dixon Williams was not done killing the Hoppers…He was part of the attack that Brought Down the Fort, in the Fourth…In the Top of the Fourth Inning, Dixon Williams connected on a Three-Run Home Run…That Seven(7) Run fourth just destroyed the Greensboro Grasshoppers chances of winning this game…The Rome Emperors scored 7 runs, on 5 Hits, including the Williams whopper that put the Hoppers under the rug…Williams finished the night, going 2-5/2 HRs/BB/5 RBI…Hayden Friese also had two hits for Rome, and Friese from Eden, N.C. and from Western Carolina University, Friese was 2-3/BB/Run/2 RBI…

Every member of the Rome Emperors ended up getting a hit on Friday night, with the exception of Isaiah Drake, from the top of the Rome batting order…Busy night at the plate again for the Emperors…For the Greensboro Grasshoppers, they had no one with more than one hit in the game…Axiel Plaz continued to swing a hot stick, as he homered for the third time this season…Plaz’ shot was a Solo HR, and for the night, Plaz was 1-3/SAC Fly RBI/2 RBI Total…Plaz batting average, now at .385 on the season…

Bryan Sanchez tripled to get the Hoppers going, in the Bottom of the First Inning…Sanchez, Plaz, and Wyatt Sanford with his ground ball/ground out RBI, all helped the Hoppers to tie the score at 2-2 after the First Frame of the game…The score remained tied at 2-2, until the Emperors Brought Down the Fort in the Fourth, with those game-changing 7 runs…For the game, the Hoppers only had 5 hits, after posting 19 base-hits the night before, and of the five hits on Friday, 4 of the 5 came from the top Four Spots, in the Top of the Hoppers Batting Order…Spots 5-9 in the Hoppers batting order, went a combined 1-15 on Friday night…Mighty cool down there at 5-9…..

The top Hopper on the night, and we are talking about our REMAX Revolution Player of the Game, this time the honors go to Greensboro Grasshoppers relief pitcher, Matt Ager….Ager worked 4 Innings, allowing just 1 Run, on 2 hits, with 1 BB/6 Ks…Player of the Game, Matt Ager, from the Friday Night affair…And again, the top Emperors player on Friday was, Dixon Williams…He went 2-4/2 HRs/BB/2 Runs/5 RBI…Inside-the-Park two-run homer, and a Three-Run Shot for Williams, and he was hitting the ball like Ted/Ted Williams on Friday night…

Greensboro Grasshoppers starting pitcher, Carlson Reed, went 3 Innings, giving up 7 Runs, on 5 Hits, with 4 BB/4 Ks, and he served 1 Home Run…Rome winning pitcher, Colin Daniel goes 6 Innings, allowing 3 Runs, on 5 Hits, with 0 BBs, and 5 Ks, plus Daniel gave up 1 HR…
