Greensboro and Greenville top what they did the night before, as Hoppers and Drive combine for 25 Runs, on 31 Hits, with Wyatt Sanford ending the game with a Chase-Off RBI Single in the 9th: Sanford 3-5/HR/Double/3 Runs/5 RBI(Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh Report)

Final from Wednesday morning/afternoon at First National Bank Field, in Downtown Greensboro…
(This is our Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh game report.)

Greensboro Grasshoppers 13, Greenville Drive 12
WP:Jose Garces(1-0)/LP:P.J. Labriola(2-2)

Hoppers' Line-13-14-1
Drive' Line- 12-17-2

Hoppers now at (18-11) after their fourth straight victory, while Greenville falls to (13-16) and this was one of those games that almost never stop giving…Twenty-five(25) runs on Thirty-one(31) hits, and over the past two games, Greensboro and Greenville have lit it up/hit it up for 45 Runs, with 55 hits, and that is some kind of offensive firepower and quite the outburst right there…Grasshoppers led late in the game, at 12-8 Hoppers, after seven innings….And the score was still 12-9, with Greensboro on top going to the Ninth Inning…After Greensboro had posted 8 runs in 7th Inning to build up that so-called comfortable lead, Greenville pushed across three(3) runs in the top of the Ninth Inning, to tie the game up at 12-12…

Now time for the Bottom of the Ninth Inning heroics from the Hoppers’ shortstop, Wyatt Sanford…On the day, the Pittsburgh Pirates second-round draft pick, out of Frisco, Texas High School, was killing it…Sanford went 3-5, with a Home Run, a Double, 3 Runs Scored, 5 RBI, and a Stolen Base…He earned the REMAX Revolution Player of the Game award, and he locked down the honors with his Walk-Off/Chase-Off Single, that scored Jhonny Severino, allowing the Greensboro Grasshoppers to win the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning…

It was a Walk-Off Winner from Sanford, but it was also a Chase-Off Winner from Wyatt Sanford…After he got the hit and Severino had scored the Game-Winner, Sanford’s Grasshopper teammates went after Wyatt, and they chased him all over the outfield area, as all the Hoppers tried to chase/run him down for a HUGE post-game celebration…Sanford kept running, and his Hopper teammates kept on chasing, and he eluded them for awhile, before they finally caught him, and the Dog-Pile was on…

Quite the scene, to see all those Hoppers chasing Wyatt Sanford, and he held them at bay, for most of the way, before they ran him/chased him down…I think that is one of the things I will remember most about this game, the Hoppers chasing Sanford as “The Celebration Was On”….I will also remember the fact that Greenville hit Eight(8) Home Runs in this game…That within itself is crazy…Plus to see Jhonny Severino score that Game-Winning Run was nice…While at the plate, in the Bottom of the Ninth, Jhonny Severino fouled a ball very hard off of his leg, and he had to lay out on the ground, and try to get loose again…It created about a Five-Minute Injury Delay, and Severino was finally able to continue his at-bat, and he singled with one out, and then Severino went from first-to-third on a Single from Brian Sanchez, and earlier Severino could barely walk, or even stand up…

That is nice, what he was able to do then, and even nicer when he did what he did next…With Severino at third base, and Sanchez at second base, after a Wild Pitch…The Drive’s P.J. Labriola intentionally walks Camden Janik to load up the bases, and THEN…
Wyatt Sanford singles on a sharp line drive to right fielder Natanael Yuten. Jhonny Severino scores. Brian Sanchez to 3rd. Camden Janik to 2nd.
Greensboro Grasshoppers win the game over the Greenville Drive, 13-12, and now you know, or least you got the recap on, “The Rest of the Story”, featuring Wyatt Sanford, and Jhonny Severino….

Other memorable moments from this Crazy Game, came when Tony Blanco Jr. hit a towering Three-Run Home Run to right center field, scoring Blanco, Edward Florentino, and Jared Jones…And to give it to you straight, here is the entire Home Run List from the game, including all the LOOOOOOOONG GONE homers, from both Greensboro, and Greenville….
Yophery Rodriguez(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to center field.
Natanael Yuten(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to right field.
Yoeilin Cespedes(Greenville) homers on a line drive to left center field.
Wyatt Sanford homers(Greensboro) on a line drive to center field.
Yophery Rodriguez(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to right center field.
Ronny Hernandez(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to center field.
Tony Blanco Jr.(Greensboro) homers on a fly ball to right center field.
Natanael Yuten(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to right center field.
Mason White(Greenville) homers on a fly ball to left center field.
Ronny Hernandez(Greenville) homers on a line drive to right field.
Greenville with Eight(8) Home Runs, and Greensboro, with only Two(2), but the Grasshoppers win the ballgame, 13-12…..

I guess the Greensboro Grasshoppers were just a Second Half team in this contest, because Greenville was in the lead after 4 1/2 Innings, with The Drive on top, 6-1….That is just how Wild and Crazy this baseball game was…

We have given a lot of meat on this game, and it really is time to start filing this game away, and to start getting ready for the next meeting…Less than 24 hours away, with Greensboro and Greenville set to do it all over again, and no telling what we might see on Thursday night, starting at 6:30pm, at First National Bank Field…..
