Post 87 Rolls Past Post 8 With Explosive Early Offense
The Post 87 HiToms overpowered the Post 8 Senior Hawgs on Tuesday night, breaking the game open early and cruising to an 11-4 victory.

Post 8 struck first in the opening frame on an Eli Gaston sacrifice fly, but the lead didn’t last long. Post 87 answered with a three?run surge in the bottom half, capitalizing on a passed ball that brought in two runs before Peyton Williams punched an RBI single to make it 3-1.

The HiToms kept stacking on as Nathanael Lorczak lifted a sacrifice fly in the second, and Travail Baines launched a solo shot to left in the third to stretch the lead to 5-1.

Post 87’s biggest blow came in the fourth, when the lineup erupted for five runs on six hits. Nick Salas drove in two with a single, Brayden Durham doubled home another, Williams added his second RBI knock of the night, and Kyle Maness capped the inning with an RBI single.

Post 8 added a late run in the seventh on a solo homer from Charlie Beck, but the gap was far too wide to close.

Williams earned the win for Post 87, striking out four across 3.1 innings. Maness closed the door to secure the save. Aiden Murphy took the loss for Post 8.

The HiToms’ offense piled up 11 hits, with Williams leading the charge from the seven?spot, going 2?for?3 with three RBI. Salas and Durham also logged multi?hit nights. Post 87 was aggressive on the bases as well, swiping five bags, two of them from Owen Landreth, who also recorded a team?high eight defensive plays.

For Post 8, Beck, Kason Curry, Austin Dally, and Gaston each drove in a run. Dally finished a perfect 3?for?3 at the plate.

Post 87 returns home Wednesday to face Chatham American Legion SR.
