Coach Stadler was the head football coach at Rockingham County High School for 13 years and now he has taken over the job as the new head football coach at Morehead High School, in Eden…Coach Stadler replaces Earl Bates, who left Morehead to become the head football coach at Southern Guilford HS…Coach Stadler played college baseball at Western Carolina University, coming from Reidsville High School and after college he was a sports sales rep for Sports and Hobbies Unlimited and did a good job there…He sold me 12 pair of basketball shoes and a set of home and away basketball uniforms for my basketball team back in the mid-1980’s and then proceeded to leave the likes of Ken Gordon, Dave Farriss and Jeff Stamey at SHU and he hit the field running and became the head baseball coach at Western Alamance High School and did a great with baseball at WA and then took on his next challenge, in becoming the head football coach at Rockingham County High School and Lin was the AD for the RCHS Cougars as well…Now on to Morehead and he is the Panthers now head football coach…From the Cougars to the Panthers and that ought to be a smooth cat-like move and he was once with the Catamounts at WCU too, and I think that was back in the days of Jack Leggett as the baseball coach at Western, before he took off to Clemson…
Lin is at it again and here is more on this move from a very good sports man, Jim West at www.carolinapreps.com:
Coach Lin Stadler has been announced as the next head football coach for Morehead High School.
Coach Stadler is a fine man and a personal friend of mine. He’s a genuine man that cares deeply about his players on and off the field. Lin is also a fine football coach. Rockingham County is one of the hardest places in the state to win. In fact, in its 39 years, Rockingham County has amassed a total of 7 seasons with more than 4 wins. Coach Stadler was at the helm for 4 of those 7 seasons.
Coach Stadler knows this area like the back of his hand. Originally a Reidsville High School grad, he was the head football coach at Rockingham County for 13 years, stepping down after the 2013 season to concentrate on being the athletic director. He’ll be a duck in water at Morehead.
I also believe that Coach Stadler is a very patient and understand man, and for the guys in Eden this upcoming season, patience will be needed. Morehead, coming off a very stout 10-4 season, will be fairly young next year after graduating a very talented senior class. As a result, the hiring of Coach Stadler is a brilliant decision. The man has the patience to deal with the ups and downs of a young team, and he’s also the nurturer that will develop and mentor his players.
I’ve had several conversations with Coach Stadler the last few months, and the one thing I can guarantee you is that he’s hungry to get back on the gridiron.
ONLY 4 seasons with more than 4 wins???? That doesn’t sound very promising to say the least out of 13 years coaching over at Rockingham. Anyways, good luck at the new school. Hopefully there will be more success.
His offense was not very sound. Trying to pass the football w/o the talent to do it. He can not take the Reidsville approach to everything. Reidsville was not only good on offense but good on defense. He thinks his X’s and O’s will get him what he wants, but what he needs are Jimmy’s and Joe’s. to do it.
