Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter’s NFL Combine media session was canceled Wednesday, minutes after news broke that an arrest warrant was out for the 21-year-old.

The warrant is for Reckless Driving and Racing and stems from the fatal crash that took the life of a teammate and Bulldogs staffer in mid-January. Carter was scheduled to meet with reporters at 10:30 a.m. ET.

According to Seth Emerson of The Athletic, both charges against Carter are misdemeanors.

Carter has been projected as a top-five pick in April’s NFL Draft and could go No. 1 overall.

While some reports said that Carter had left the combine on Wednesday morning, Andy Staples of The Athletic tweeted at 11:02 a.m. ET that an official said the prospect was “still in the medical testing area.”

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart released a statement late Wednesday morning on the situation.

According to an Associated Press and ESPN report, the news of the warrant came out hours after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Carter was present at the scene of the Jan. 15 crash and later provided “shifting accounts” of the incident to police.
