UNCG Men’s Golf to Travel to Ireland in June
GREENSBORO, N.C.– The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team, following its fourth team bid to a NCAA Regional, will embark on a trip of a lifetime during the first full week of June as they travel to Ireland on a golf & world exploratory venture.
“We are beyond excited for this amazing trip,” stated Head Coach Terrance Stewart. “Thanks to our donors, parents, and department for making this happen. We will all make memories that will last a lifetime.”
All travel will be planned through Celtic Golf, a leader in premium golf travel vacations to Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales, as well as many destinations in Europe.
The Spartans are scheduled to be out in Ireland for seven days and plan to golf at six different courses across the country, including Doonbeg Golf Club, Lahinch Golf Club, Tralee Golf Club, Waterville Golf Links, Old Head Golf Links, and Ballybunion Golf Club. UNCG will also explore the beautiful landscape and history of Ireland exploring the Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, Cobh & Kinsale, and more.
UNCG concluded the 2022-23 season winning two tournaments, including its own Grandover Invitational in late October and the Wake Forest Invitational at historic Pinehurst No. 2 in early March. UNCG also claimed second place at Cincinnati’s Bearcat Invitational in September and UNCG’s Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at Hammock Creek Golf Course in Palm City, Florida to open the spring season in February. The Spartans had six wins against top 25 teams this year and were 51st nationally from Golfstat and Golfweek heading into NCAA Regional play.
The Spartans traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada for a NCAA Regional in mid-May. This marked the fourth time in program history as a team and the seventh regional where at least one Spartan golfer has competed. UNCG posted a ninth-place finish competing at Bear’s Best Las Vegas, which was the best finish as a team since the 2013-14 Spartan squad posted a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Auburn Regional.
