RE/MAX Revolution Report:It was like a Baseball Buffet on Wednesday night at FNB Field, as we saw a little bit of everything, including 5 HR’s/20 Hits from the ‘Birds, plus a Grand Slam by the Hoppers’ Matthiessen, 3-Run shot by Bowen, 3-5 Acuna and MORE!!!

Final from Wednesday night at First National Bank Field:
Aberdeen IronBirds 16, Greensboro Grasshoppers 14
WP:Cooper Chandler(5-3)/LP:Jaycob Deese(2-2)

IronBirds-16-20-1
Hoppers- 14-15-1

Greensboro Grasshoppers(38-37)
Aberdeen IronBirds(39-36)

We could barely keep up with all of the action that was going tonight, down at First National Bank Field, in downtown Greensboro…The Aberdeen IronBirds picked up the win, and the ‘Birds were hitting the ball over the yard…Aberdeen had five Home Runs, and the ‘Birds blasted three of those five bombs off, in the top of the first inning…End of the first inning, Aberdeen already led the Hoppers, 4-0…Kyle Stowers, Dylan Beavers, and Silas Ardoin all homered in the first…For Ardoin, he has hit three home runs, in two days….Stowers homered twice in the Wednesday night contest…Stowers(2), Beavers, Ardoin, and Max Wagner also had a long ball for the yard-clearing HR, for Aberdeen…

On this night of the Wednesday Night All-You-Can Hit Buffet, Jackson Holliday extended his Fourth of July holiday, and Holliday had a full plate, as he grabbed all he could from the Baseball Buffet…Holliday went 5-5, with four singles, a Double, and a Wak, and Holliday scored five runs…Stowers went back to the Baseball Buffet for seconds and thirds, and his baseball buffet line was 3-5/2 HR’s/BB/3 Runs/5 RBI….

You pretty much had two Baseball Buffet lines on this night, and over in the ‘Birds line, you didn’t have any fried chicken, but there was plenty mashed baseballs after all of those home runs, and we saw Creed Willems loading up on several trips to his plate, and he was 3-6/Double/4 RBI….Silas Ardoin was going up the plate, and he was using his bat like a knife, and just kept on cutting into those baseballs like they were a Sunday pot roast at the Golden Corral, out there on West Wendover Avenue…Ardoin was 3-5, with his home run, and that one RBI…No need for any dessert, because after the ‘Birds finished their main course of attacking the scoreboard, they were not going to fork over any extra seasonings for the Grasshoppers to use a foil…And we are not talking aluminum foil…

We sure could have used a few pitchers of tea, but on this Wednesday Night Buffet, there was no room for the Pitchers to really stand out….It wasn’t about what they did while they were trying to stop all of the commotion at the plate, it was more about trying to get some sort of Take Out service started, and the Pitchers could not force the batters to step down, and if they could just get them out, it was like the Take Out line had arrived, at the Wednesday Night Buffet, at First National Bank Field..

In this past the Hoppers food service staff has served up some outstanding Buffet Meals, that fans would pay good money for, and they would take full advantage of, but here at this Wednesday Night Baseball Buffet, the batter’s buffet line was running from the dugout, to the batter’s on deck circle, and then on right up to the home plate…And every player I saw was fighting to get back up there and take his swings, to see they could land a ball at the ‘point of no return’…

It was if the batters were wiping their fingers and they were licking their chops, just dreaming of one more at-bat…If they got up to six at-bats, the thought occured to me that the batters were thinking that they had pancake batter on their fingers…

We will now turn our to the Greensboro Grasshopper batters, and they had no lack of success at the plate, on this special Wednesday Baseball Buffet…Our Steak n Shake Players of the Game from the Hoppers were Will Matthiessen, Jase Bowen, and Francisco Acuna…Acuna went 3-5/Double/3 Runs during his five visits to the Baseball Buffet line, there at the home plate…Jase Bowen had so many RBI, and not RIBS on his plate, he could not contain them all…Bowen with his 16th home run of the season, and he ended up driving in 5 runs, and that gives Bowen 60 RBI for the season, and he does not need too much seasoning on his RBI, they seem to coming up looking real nice and fluffy on their own…And last, but not least, on our Steak n Shake list of Players of the Game, from our Wednesday night game, we have Big Will Matthiessen…I know Steak n Shake has some real good food, with all of their Steak Burgers and their Shakes, and that you can still get a Grand Slam breakfast meal at the local Waffle House 24/7, but for Big Will Matthiessen he was content to dig in at home plate, and he was able to create, and then simulate his own version of the Grand Slammer…Matthiessen connected on his Buffet Line round-tripper in the Hoppers’ four-run seventh inning, and with his big blow to left field, Big Will not only cleared and turned the tables, he cleared the bases, and he cut the score down to ‘Birds 14, Hoppers 11…

Those three guys right there, were your Hopper leaders on the night, and the way this Wednesday Night Baseball talk is going, you sort of wish the Hoppers were a variation of the jack rabbit, and they could find and eat some of that too…

Notes on other Hopper batters and what they did in this Baseball Buffet, and we will take their names for the reservation purposes, and then give you their results…Mike Jarvis could not get the lid off of the jar, but he did jar the lid loose long enough to walk three times in this affair…Jarvis 0-3/3 BB’s…Tres Gonzalez went 2-5/Double/BB/Run…Ernny Ordonez goes 2-4/HBP/2 Runs…Shawn Ross 0-4/BB/Run…Eli Wilson 1-4/Triple/SAC Fly/Run/2 RBI…Brendan Dixon 1-3/2 SAC Fly RBI/2 RBI…

We could have brought in Chef Boyardee to throw out the last pitch, and the way the two teams were going through pitchers in this game, The Chef might have been an option…The Grasshoppers went through 7 pitchers, and the ‘Birds threw four…

This was one of those games where you just were not sure what was going to happen next…

We do know this and have a Box Score to prove it….Final Score:Aberdeen IronBirds 16, Greensboro Grasshoppers 14…Scattered amongst the ‘Birds roster, kind of like the scattered, smothered and covered hash browns from the Waffle House, we do see ‘Birds from Green Bay, Wisconsin, some played college ball at Virgina Tech and at Clemson, and those are some fine football landmarks, and this game ended up being like one of those Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon pigskin classics, as we sit back and digest that final score…

Let’s move our seats/chairs back away from the Baseballl Buffet Line, and give the Final Call, yes the final details on this baseball game…
