UNCG Men’s Soccer & Campbell Face Off On Tuesday in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team hosts in-state rival Campbell on Tuesday, September 5 for a non-conference match-up at the UNCG Soccer Stadium with a start time of 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

This will be the 29th meeting between the two teams, where UNCG holds a 17-8-3 advantage all-time. Campbell has won the last three meetings against the Spartans. The Spartans last won on September 25, 2018 in Greensboro, 2-1, in overtime

SPARTAN QUICK HITTERS
UNCG won The 2022 Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular Season and Tournament Championships, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This was the program’s 10th Division I bid into the tournament and 19th overall bid.
The Spartans reached the 2022 NCAA Quarterfinals after earning a first-round bye, and defeating Ohio State and Stanford.
With last season’s 13-2-6 record, this was the second-straight year with 10 or more wins, under the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Chris Rich.
UNCG was voted to finish first in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll, while Emmanuel Hagan, Ethan Conley, and Basile Marc earned Preseason All-Conference honors. All three were named to SoCon All-Conference teams.
Hagan, Conley, and Marc were named captains this season.
The Spartans feature 15 returners, 10 freshman, and three transfers.
UNCG opened the season at home and played to a 1-1 draw to the California Golden Bears, in a game that was played over two days and five hours and 25 minutes due to inclement weather.
Freshman Arnaud Tattevin scored his first-collegiate goal, while Nabil Homssa, and Donovan Roux each tallied their first assists as a Spartan against the Bears.
The Spartans faced back-to-back ranked opponents in then-ranked No. 14 Maryland and No. 13 Louisville, falling 2-0 to both teams.

SCOUTING CAMPBELL
Campbell was voted to finish fourth in the 2023 CAA Preseason Poll.
Senior Bissafi Dotte was named to All-CAA Preseason team, while Tiago Lopes received honorable mention accolades.
The Camels finished the 2022 season with an 11-4-5 overall record and a 6-1-1 conference mark, winning the 2022 Big South Regular Season title
The Camels are 0-0-2 heading into this contest.
Campbell played to 1-1 draws against South Carolina and Delaware.
Adam Yousfi and Teva Lossec have each scored one goal this season.
Samy Slimi has started and played in both games for the Camels in net, giving up just two goals and tallying four saves.
Campbell welcomes 14 newcomers to the 2023 roster.

UNCG will follow this contest with a road battle against in-state foe Charlotte on Saturday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Transamerica Field.
