Woodhull-Smith Hired as UNCG’s Assistant AD for Compliance
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Intercollegiate Athletic Department recently announced the hiring of Britney Woodhull-Smith as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
Woodhull-Smith comes to UNCG after being elevated to Barton College’s Interim Director of Athletics in January 2023 after serving as the Bulldogs’ Deputy Director of Athletics in the summer of 2022. She has eight years of experience in collegiate athletics.
“We are excited to welcome Britney and her family to our UNCG family,” stated Jody Smith, Executive Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman Administrator. “She brings a wealth of knowledge to this position as a former student-athlete, as an administrator, and with her unique educational background. She will be a huge asset for the department with her broad range of experience and be a great addition to our leadership team.”
Prior to becoming the school’s Deputy AD, Woodhull-Smith was the school’s Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator for two years. Woodhull-Smith started her career at Barton as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, a position she held for three years beginning in 2017.
Within the Division, Woodhull-Smith was responsible for managing the NCAA compliance of all student-athletes, coaches, and staff. In the Spring of 2021, she joined the Title IX office on campus as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator and was involved with discrimination and harassment prevention.
Internally, Woodhull-Smith was the liaison to various departments on campus including admissions, financial aid, and academic support. Woodhull-Smith also represented the Barton’s Division of Athletics on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and also supported the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on campus as the staff advisor.
Woodhull-Smith is currently pursuing her doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Woodhull-Smith received her master’s degree in higher education/student personnel from the University of Mississippi in 2016. While at Ole Miss, Woodhull-Smith worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Woodhull-Smith also received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from East Carolina University with a minor in exercise and sports science in 2014. Prior to that, Woodhull-Smith received a bachelor’s degree in zoological sciences from North Carolina State University in 2010, where she was a member of the women’s swimming team and competed in the sprint freestyle and butterfly.
Woodhull-Smith is a native of Silver Spring, Maryland., and currently resides in Greensboro, N.C., with her husband, Kevin, son, Vincent, daughters, Drake and Harley, and two golden retrievers.
