THREE-TIME MAJOR WINNER, 2015 FEDEXCUP CHAMPION JORDAN SPIETH JOINS WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three-time Major winner, 2015 FedExCup champion and fan favorite Jordan Spieth will return to Sedgefield for next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Spieth joins Rickie Fowler, FedExCup No. 7 Ben Griffin, former world No. 1 and Masters champion Adam Scott, past Masters Champion and FedExCup. No. 21 Hideki Matsuyama, Max Homa, 2022 U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick, Scottish Open Champion and FedExCup No. 23 Chris Gotterup, FedExCup No. 15 Robert MacIntyre, FedExCup No. 26 and two-time Major winner Zach Johnson, past U.S. Open champion, Wyndham champion and FedExCup No. 26 Lucas Glover, FedExCup No. 29 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 30 Ryan Fox, FedExCup No. 33 Thomas Detry, world No. 1 amateur Jackson Koivun, defending champion Aaron Rai, 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland, past champions Kevin Kisner, Si Woo Kim, J.T. Poston, Tom Kim, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker, past U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson and Camilo Villegas in the field.

Spieth won the Masters, the U.S. Open and the FedExCup championship in 2015 followed by the Open Championship in 2017. The 13-time PGA TOUR winner is 48th in FedExCup points and 49th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes this season are fourth at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, tied for fourth at the WM Phoenix Open and tied for seventh at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. After successful off-season wrist surgery, Spieth suffered a neck and upper back injury earlier this summer but is now healthy.

A native of Dallas, he will make his second-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance and his fifth overall. During his 2013 rookie season, he lost a two-hole playoff to Patrick Reed and finished second – still his best Wyndham Championship finish. He played in the Ryder Cup in 2014, ’16, ’18, ’21 and ’23 and the Presidents Cup in 2013, ’15, ’17 and ’22.

“Jordan is one of the top-five guys every tournament wants in their field,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “We are excited to have him with us again this year. With his short game and knowledge of this golf course, it would not surprise me to see him in contention on Sunday.”

During his junior golf career, Spieth played the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey at Sedgefield in 2008 and ’09 finishing tied for sixth and fourth, respectively. He started the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation in 2014 as a platform to lend time, awareness and financial assistance to individuals with Special Needs, Junior Golf, Military Families and Veterans, and Pediatric Cancer.

ANDREW NOVAK, TONY FINAU, SAHITH THEEGALA AMONG ADDITIONS TO WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP 5 p.m. FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Andrew Novak, Tony Finau and Sahith Theegala joined the Wyndham Championship field and are among the additions who will play next week, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The deadline to join next week’s Wyndham Championship field was 5 p.m. today, but for those playing this week’s 3M Championship in Blaine, Minn., the deadline to join the field is 30 minutes after today’s final putt drops. In addition, four Monday qualifiers will be added to the field early next week.

These players join three-time Major champion Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, FedExCup No. 7 Ben Griffin, FedExCup No. 10 and Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley, former world No. 1 and Masters champion Adam Scott, past Masters Champion and FedExCup. No. 21 Hideki Matsuyama, Max Homa, 2022 U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick, Scottish Open Champion and FedExCup No. 23 Chris Gotterup, FedExCup No. 15 Robert MacIntyre, FedExCup No. 26 and two-time Major winner Zach Johnson, past U.S. Open champion, Wyndham champion and FedExCup No. 26 Lucas Glover, FedExCup No. 29 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 30 Ryan Fox, FedExCup No. 33 Thomas Detry, world No. 1 amateur Jackson Koivun, defending champion Aaron Rai, 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland, past champions Kevin Kisner, Si Woo Kim, J.T. Poston, Tom Kim, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker, past U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson and Camilo Villegas in the field.

The field includes:

15 of the top 40 in FedExCup points
24 of the top 50 in FedExCup points
33 of the top 60 in FedExCup points
43 of the top 70 in FedExCup points
53 of the top 80 in FedExCup points
63 of the top 90 in FedExCup points
72 of the top 100 in FedExCup points
21 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings

“These numbers show the significance of the Wyndham Championship date very clearly,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “It’s about making the top 70 and advancing into the FedExCup playoffs. It’s about making the top 50 after the BMW Championship in two weeks to be in the 2026 signature events, and last year, 19 players who were not in the top 50 entering the Wyndham Championship played their way into it after our tournament.

“With Ben Griffin, Keegan Bradley, Andrew Novak and others that are up there pretty high in points, it’s also about moving up or moving into the top 10 in points for the $40 Million Comcast Business Tour Top 10 that’s awarded after our tournament. This field has to be our strongest in the last 20 years, and it should be a lot of fun at Sedgefield Country Club next week.”

Novak is 12th in FedExCup points and 31st in the Official World Golf Rankings. He teamed with Ben Griffin to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans one week after losing in a playoff at the RBC Heritage. He also finished third at the Farmers Insurance Open and tied for third at the Valero Texas Open. He will make his fourth-consecutive Wyndham Championship start next week.

Finau is a six-time PGA TOUR winner who has yet to win in 2025. His best finishes this season are tied for fifth at the Genesis Invitational, tied for 13th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and tied for 15th at The Sentry and Truist Championship. He is 59th in FedExCup points and 46th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He will make his first Wyndham Championship appearance next week.

Theegala is 50th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 140th in FedExCup points. His best finishes this year are tied for 17th at the Genesis Invitational and tied for 18th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He represented the United States in the 2024 Presidents Cup.
