from LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network and from GreensboroSports.com:
Hoppers’ REMAX Revolution Players of the game included starting pitcher Connor Wietgrefe and we just loved the good work turned in by the LHP on Sunday…Very strong start by Wietgrefe and it was just flat out effiecient, as he gave up two runs on 7 hits, but he allowed 0 walks, and he struck out 7 Brooklyn batters…We thought Konner Griffin and Javier Rivas also belonged on the Player of the Game list as both made outstanding defensive plays, with Griffin doing it at SS and Rivas at third base…Both have those Ballastic Arms that get the ball to first base in a big hurry…Griffin also led the Hoppers in hitting going 2-5, with 1 run scored…Griffin went back into shallow left field to grab a popup off of the the bat of the Cyclones’ A.J. Ewing, and that fine play on defense, allowed the Hoppers to record the second out of the game…And Julian Bosnic only worked two-thirds of an inning, but he was spectacular as usual, with his nasty curveball….Bosnic came on for a struggling Carlos Jimenez in the Top of the Eighth Inning, and Bosnic struck out Ronald Hernandez and Corey Collins…Bosnic did give up a hit to Boston Baro, but that run belonged to Jimenez…Bosnic and his curveball are about as strong as a food truck full of steak sandwiches, heading down the streets of Bosnia…

There you go, there is our story of the Sunday game, at least our highlights, among any lowlights, but Sunday will really be remembered as a, “Hoppers Hot as Heck Sunday, at First National Bank Field”….Game time temp was 93 degrees, and the thermometer/temp gauge got as high as 96 degrees over the course of the game….

Other Hopper hitters on Sunday inculded Tres Gonzalez who was 1-4/BB/RBI/SB…Keiner Delgado went 1-5/Run…Javier Rivas goes 0-3/BB/HBP…Will Taylor was 1-5/RBI…Shalin Polanco 0-3/2 BBs…Lonnie White Jr. 0-3/BB…Derek Berg was 1-4…Jesus Castillo goes 0-2/2 BBs…As you can see, every Greensboro Grasshopper was reaching base, they just could not push the necessary runs across the plate…

The Hoppers led in the game, 1-0 until the sixth inning, when Brooklyn took their 2-1 lead, and then the Grasshoppers were all tied up in the ballgame, at 2-2, after 7 innings, and then Brooklyn broke the tie on an RBI single from Boston Baro, that scored Marco Vargas, and that ended up being the Game-Winner, as the Cyclones held on to win the contest 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field…Baro proved to be the Hoppers’ thorn-in-the-side, as he goes 4-4 for Sunday, and in addition to his game-winning RBI, he had a Two-Run Home Run earlier, that put the Brooklyn Cyclones on top, 2-1…Mr. Baro, playing a little bit like old “Take the Fork in the Road” Yogi Berra, in the victory by Brooklyn…

That’s all we have, as the Greensboro Grasshoppers take the weekly series from the Brooklyn Cyclones, 5-1…..
