Friday Night Finish as Grimsley-West Charlotte lives up to the Hype(Brandon vs. Nichols steals the Show), while Northern Guilford tops Reidville and We Were telling everyone the NG Nighthawks are for Real and “They Are”

**********We have the top Friday Night Finish Report from our area, and from we are led to believe, it is the ONLY one in our area, but hey, let’s make it shine and stand out…Let the keyboards/type pads roll, and here we go!!!!!*********

The Grimsley at West Charlotte game lived up to the hype, and the Grimsley Whirlies won the game, 28-27 in Overtime, as most of you know by now, but I got to say, the top Show-Stopper and the “Game Changer” was Jamouri Nichols, the quarterback from West Charlotte

If he doesn’t come up with a cramp at the very end of that Overtime Period, right after he scored the OT TD, to get his team within one point, if he doesn’t get the cramp, you can’t tell me that his team does not win this ballgame…We will never know, but West Charlotte was forced to pass when they went for two at the end of the contest, because Nichols couldn’t run, due to the cramp…

On the game-tying play to send the game into Overtime, he ran it in for two, and he scored at ease, on that Two-Point Run…That Nichols is the Real Deal, and Faizon Brandon is an excellent QB, but the Nichols light was shining bright there on Friday night in Charlotte, at Bank of America Stadium…

Grimsley’s got the team, that is for sure, and Grimsley should no doubt be ranked as the #1 team in the state of North Carolina, but as for the best player on the field, on Friday night down there in Charlotte, if we name Faizon Brandon as tops, there are going to some very good arguments in favor of Jamouri Nichols, from West Charlotte as the top player on the turf at the BOA Stadium, on Friday night…This was just a great game to be watching, and I was able to catch the end of the game on TV 48, and again, that Whirlies-Lions game was a doozy….

I would like to hear at least some talk about the job Jamouri Nichols(West Charlotte) and Faizon Brandon(Grimsley HS) did in this game…Give me your thoughts on Brandon at QB, and Nichols at QB…Both are First Team All-State players, that is a fact…There was more to the game than just Faizon Brandon vs. Jamouri Nichols, but to me, that was the Headliner right there….Those two young men are among the tops in the United States…

Grimsley should be ranked just ahead of West Charlotte, as the #1 high school football team in the state(North Carolina), but it is a very close race with Grimsley #1 and West Charlotte #2…There really is not much separating the G Whrirlies and the WC Lions…

Man, again that was one heck of a game, and it did live up to the Hype, and Jamouri Nichols from West Charlotte, nearly stole the show, but the Grimsley Whirlies came out of there with the WIN, and that is what matters the most…It was a lot like we were watchinig a State Championship Game on the first game of the new 2025 high school football regular season…

Anybody got a nice printable Box Score on the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at Reidsville Rams game??? Go ahead and send it my way, either to this spot in the Comment Box on this post here at the website, or to my E-mail, andy@greensborosports.com…

I remember the final score as NG Nighthawks 47, Reidsville 38…Joe Dexter from ROCO Radio, up there in Rockingham County, may have that piece of info for us…Jay Ramey, from ROCO Radio, has a writeup on the Rockingham County teams for us, here at GreensboroSports.com website…I am thinking from that video I was hearing and seeing from WFMY TV 2’s Friday Football Fever Show, that NG’s RB Amare Akers was running for big yards and big TDs in this huge “Road Win” for Northern Guilford…

I was telling people before the season started, that everyone better watch out for the NG Nighthawks…I was with this team, back when they were 8th graders, and was with them on the day they defeated Northwest Guilford, and that allowed those NG Nighthawks at that time, to finish their season Undefeated, and told people on that day, watch out for these kids when they get to the high school level…There are currently right at 20 young men on this NG team that were together back when they finished Unbeaten as 8th-graders, and those 20 fellows are now seniors for the team of Nighthawks who just slayed the very highly regarded Reidsville Rams…

Keep a watch on Northern Guilford for this season, the ‘Hawks just climbed over one main obstacle on Friday night, to start their overall 2025 campaign(NG just met up with Super Destroyer …

Grimsley is the top story going around, but Northern Guilford is right there at #2, and both of those teams just have to keep on winning….From NG, we had QB Jaxson Kemp, RB Amare Akers, and OL Sam Bagley on our Thursday Night Football in Focus Show, and I must say, we may have given them a nice rub of good luck from that show, you just never know…

Other impressions on me are the solid wins from Northwest Guilford over Western Alamance, the Eastern Guilford Widlcats, taking down the Eastern Alamance Eagles with their old coach John Kirby back in the house in Mebane…And don’t forget another up-and-coming team, and that would be the Northeast Guilford Rams, with their new head coach Antonio Hall, new QB Jaquez Crawford, new RB Rayshawn Wilson, new DB Jeremiah ‘Dre’ Deese, and More…NEG put 46 points and gave up none to the Morehead Panthers…Dudley Panthers losing like they did to Cardinal Gibbons surprised me, but Dudley couldn’t get their offense going….And the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders are a very good team…Solid QB, two steady RBs, and at 2-3 clutch receivers….And there you, and I am almost LONG GONE for tonight…Adios amigos….

MORE to come…..
More here from the Western Guilford Hornets’ Camp:
Exciting night for football. At the half WG Hornets leading 16-14. Tim Baker Jr with 2 TDs. Southeast scores 1st out of the half. 22-16. Caleb Moore adds a score in the 3rd and a two point conversion 24-22 Hornets lead. SE responds with 2 point conversion 30-24. 4th quarter, SE pulls away late winning 51-30.

  1. Watch out for Northwest Guilford and don’t sleep on those Vikings. At Page this week and then on to Northern Guilford after that. They will not be stopped. Northwest is ready and up to any challenge. They will ruin several teams seasons, so look out now. Northwest Guilford is the team to watch. No brag, just facts.

  2. Not true. Page is the team to watch. Very skilled at skill positions. Not saying they will beat grimsley, but definately a strong team this year.

  3. If that West Charlotte QB doesn’t Cramp Up like you said and that flag saying WC false started (Grimsley Jumped on both sides of the defensives sides first.) WC was going to score that 2. I told people weeks before that game that WC was either going to win or hang neck and neck with Grimsley, They are super fast and physical. Their only setback is they are short in height. Their blitz packages messed Dudley up last yr in the playoffs. Dudley was bigger, but WC was quicker. I knew they could get to Grimsley QB and they did about 5 times I believe. WC had 9 flags to Grimsleys 1, that cost them. Especially that 90 something KICKOFF RETURN FOR A TD!!! Then they fumbled inside the 5 yrd line of Grimsley. Block extra point that is 12 to 15 points to lose by 1. Great Game and great atmospehere at Bank of America Stadium.
