Remember the old Young and Restless Show…Well we have both the young, the old, and the restless still hoping to bring high school football State Titles to Guilford County…Some people called the show, The Young and Worthless, but I still see much value in what we have to work with, going forward to Round Four of the NCHSAA Football Playoffs….
We have our same game plan here today, as we did back in Week One…Bring you the most thorough Rewind on record, and we may not break any records here today, but we have things coming your way, and let’s just see what the pundits have to say…
I like to start where I started, and last night as I was getting home from the Northern Guilford-Kings Mountain game, the FOX 8 Friday Football Frenzy was about ready to go LIVE…One-man show for them last night, with the Commissioner Kevin Connolly at the controls, and KC says this thing rolls, and it does cuz, cuz we have it and we are set to bring it into your living room, bedroom, storeroom, or if you need Moore Room, you can wait patiently, because Don Moore and the scoreboard are just a few clicks away…
OK, here is KC, let’s see what it will be, when he you gives these high school football highlights…
CLICK HERE for the Friday Football Frenzy, and no Mr. Lindsey, he is cranking things out over at the HPE building/High Point Enterprise…
Now that we have opened this thing up a bit, let’s get rolling and as Charlie Harville used to say, bring you “The Best in Sports Today”…So let’s head back over to Charlie’s old stomping grounds at WFMY TV for their Friday Football Fever Show…As soon as the Friday Football Frenzy was finished, I was ready to catch The Fever…Never going to leave her…Mike Hogewood got this baby rolling many moons ago, and it is still rolling strong today, and last night we saw Logan Campbell, Bryce Parker, and Chad Silber bringing home the bacon, as they say…
Next up we John Johnson and Chanel Porter with the WXII High School Playbook…Chris Peterson, from WXII TV, was in the press box again last night, out at Northern Guilford HS….
CLICK HERE for Playbook Part I….
CLICK HERE for Playbook Part II…
Bryant Roche, from the News and Record was out there at the Bill Bookout Stadium last night, where the Gryphons from Rocky Mount, topped the Northeast Guilford Rams….
CLICK HERE for Bryant’s top performers, and his insight on last night with the Rams…Mr. Roche, ready to play, and like Mick Foley, Roche says ‘have a good day’….Bryant goes beyond the glory, and give us his top story, and it might not be like “Mondays with Maury”, but it sure ain’t gory…Sort of like going back to the days of the Berlin Wall, and you may just have to either climb over, or tear down the Paywall to get in, but it will be well worth your time…
CLICK HERE for Woody Marshall, from the News and Record, with his photos from the Northeast Guilford-Rocky Mount game, and as our former president Ronald Reagan used to say, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that Paywall”….And Mikal, had a plan to sell and he did well, when he put those bricks on the market…
Now time to hit last night’s roll call from our crew here at GreensboroSports.com, and at GreensboroSports RADIO…Let’s see if all the troops are ready, and can be accounted for after last night’s missions and maneuvers…First in line for roll call, we have Private Jay Ramey, present and accounted for…
CLICK HERE for his Rockingham County Review on the Reidsville Rams big win, over Eastern Wayne…
Corporal Mike Fanning reporting for duty next, and the Call for Duty, is not easy, but Mike has it all covered with Grimsley over Jack Britt…
We now look, or we now will listen to our Staff Sergeant Randy Norris, as he takes on a field mission, with Northern Guilford vs. Kings Mountain on the RADIO…
CLICK HERE for the ole sarge, and get in the game…
Up next on the docket for our Military Saturday we have our Five-Star General Don Moore, with the Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Scoreboard…If you need a score, or need to look back at a game, it is here for you, when you CLICK HERE….
This is not a Private webpage, and we often have Major issues, that bring about more than General concerns, but if Captain Kirk could make it work, we should be able to Do It Too…We Can Do This, but for some unnecessary reason, I keep getting kicked back in rank, and today I have been blacklisted and now I serve in GreensboroSports.com military ranks, as a Buck Private…Kicked back in rank too many times to explain, but I can handle the pain, as long as Howard Stern doesn’t try and take his turn and go rogue on us…
CLICK HERE and you are there, at last night’s High School Football Finish…That Firing Squad needs to go out and hunt some Yellow Quail, instead of chasing me for all of Red October, November, and December…Please keep clicking, because I want my Stripes to keep on sticking to my uniform…
Nothing available today at HS OT, so we will move on from the $59.99 per year it will cost us to get in on their Pentagon-like boardroom sessions…Who is their Commander-in-Chief, since Nick Stevens did his leavens…And he left as the Ex Commander-in-Chief, some now “Where’s the Beef?” and could we possibly be seeing Ryan Leaf making a move into the Raleigh market???
That’s about all the damage we can do today, so stay with us for Round Four of the NCHSAA Playoffs and MORE….We do have the only Rewind of this type, beyond the Mason-Dixon line, although we did appropriate some of our federal funding to go to an extra tank of gas, so we can make it back out to Spencer-Dixon Road, next Friday night….
You ever going to post anything on the Gargoyles?
lol don’t nobody care about the gargoyles
Have listened to parts of some of their games on the radio, but haven’t really gotten into them yet…Have not got a real feel for them so far…Not sure what the public pulse or perception is on the Gargoyles so far…Anybody seen them LIVE and in person, and is Hockey hot again in Greensboro??? Would like to know, and just wondering….High School Football still hot, and looks like the basketball beat is about ready for another drum roll/season…
Big Don Moore has always been our Hockey guru, and he may have something about the Gargoyles coming for us…I have heard ticket prices are like $35.00 per game, and that is a high rate for minor league hockey, and then you have to pay the parking fee at the Coliseum, and that might $15.00-$20.00, really not sure/certain…
Good topic here, so if anyone wants to take off, go off into this one, go at it/have at it…
@Just Saying “Don’t nobody care about” the Grasshoppers, either. Their games are just an excuse to eat dogs and get drunk, yet we get recaps here on pretty much every game. Just sayin’.
with them prices they wont be around long lol
We have been covering the Grasshoppers here at the site for their over 20 years of existence and that is because I am at all the home games…Easy to get home and do the recaps of the home games, and that has been the routine for the past 20-plus years…Had a sponsor for it and used to do the away recaps too, but times changed…Glad to have been on the Hoopers scene all those years, but those days are limited…Getting very close to end of all the lines…Have never even had any contact with Gargoyles, and not trying to sound too self-serving, but I guess they are doing OK without us…Have never heard a word at all from them…Sometimes, when you reach out it can go a long ways or some ways…
The Grasshoppers send press releases and we print every one that they send…They send them periodically during the off season, and they send us their game reports after every home game, and we include those in our reports…
You see a ton of UNCG and Guilford College posts/articles here at the site, and we don’t even print them all, but print all that we can and try to print the reports from the biggest events on the slate that night or day…I think if we print too many, and believe me, there could many more coming at you, if we print too many that would be overkill and probably a turn off, to some readers….David Walters one of the best SIDs ever when he was at Guilford College, and he was gone before we started receiving UNCG posts in our current era, but back in the day, Ty Buckner was the best-ever SID, at UNCG…Have never any of the current UNCG SID staff….
High Point and Elon both used to send us stuff and we sure printed that, but never anything from N.C. A&T…Several times over the years, I have gone by the A&T athletics site to grab a football, basketball, baseball, or maybe track story…Also in that same area, Greensboro College sent us info, back when Bob Lowe and Wes Gullett were the SIDs, and we printed everything they sent us…
If the Gargoyles sent us game reports, I can guarantee you that we would print them…We/I used to print all of the Carolina Core’s soccer info they sent us this past summer, because they sent those game reports to us, and our policy has been, you send, we print…
The way the UNCG posts started coming our way happened when I wrote an article about the old UNCG men’s soccer teams and their DIII Championship runs under Mike Berticelli and Michael Parker, and after I wrote that post\article, I think UNCG saw it/read it and they thought, we need to start sending them articles and they did…Probably felt we need to write our own, that guy writing at GreensboroSports, is a bit out of sorts…And he always wear shorts, and never leaves the basketball courts, and ends up eating to-go cheesesteaks at Mort’s…
But, there you go, that’s the rest of story, about The Rest of the Story, and how the rest of the story got up here at GreensboroSports.com…The story of Beyond of the Glory….
And speaking of the recent stories, did any of you read the Fritz Klenner/Bitter Blood work, that came out last week in the News and Record…It was a six-part feature from Susie Spear, and it one of the best I have seen this year, or any other year, for that matter…Very interesting stuff, and I have always been intrigued by the story of Fritz and his cousin Susie Newsome for years…The chase started out near my old Guilford College stomping grounds at the Friendly Hills Apartments, and took off down New Garden Road and headed towards Highway 150 in Summerfield…Very interesting story, even after all these years…Have never read the Jerry Bledsoe book, Bitter Blood, but the one kid said he had been given 10 copies of it to read over the years…Send me one…
I did get interviewed by Susie Spear back during the November mayoral election….Don’t think it made it to the paper, but it was on line…I need write another short book one day, on my life and times among GreensboroSports and GreensboroSports people…You know…
Wonder who really rules???
Electronic Media, or the print media….
Is it TV, newspapers, online sources, radio, or other these days?????
BTW, Bryce Johnson doing a very good job in the SID role at Guilford College…And Brian Clarey doing very good in his current media role at UNCG…
On even another important media note…I ran into big Ralph Kitley on Sunday night, at the Sheetz on New Garden Road, and he told the good news that his daughter Liz, the other Big Kit, Liz is now doing radio commentary work for the Virginia Tech women’s basketball games, and she will be doing analyst work for the ACC Network/women’s basketball, and even doing studio work for the ACC Network, up in Bristol, Connecticut…Liz Kitley doing well for herself, and hoping to return to the WNBA…Cayla King, Liz’ teammate at Northwest Guilford HS, and also at Virginia Tech, Cayla is now a Graduate Assistant coach at Clemson…Elissa Cunane, is an assistant coach for the Providence Friars…
Started out talking to Ralph about the death of Rodney Rogers, another Wake Forest great….All of this is basketball-related info in this update….JIC
What about Monday Night Football…If the Carolina Panthers would have been on local TV 45 they would have won the game…The Panthers need to be on local TV in order to win the game…I thought WFMY TV 2 was the “official station of the Carolina Panthers”…Where were they in this time of need???
I listened to the game on ROCK 92….Only place I could get it…
