Drive' Line- 6-16-0 Hoppers' Line-4- 7-0
Greensboro Grasshoppers’ record falls to (18-12), while the Greenville Drive see their seasonal mark improve to (14-16)…..
Hoppers were out-hit 16-7 by the Drive, but only out-scored, 6-4…Part of that Two-Run difference came from the first two batters of the ballgame, from Greenville…On the very first pitch of the night, Justin Gonzales hit a sharp shot, out of the ballpark, and into deep left field…The very next batter for Greenville, Henry Godbout, followed suit, and he hit another solo Home Run for the Greenville Drive, and before you could blink an eye, the Drive led 2-0 over the Hoppers, and the Drive go on to win the game by two runs…Greenvillle had extended their 2-0 adavantage to a 3-0 margin over the Grasshoppers, by the end of the first inning…T
The Greensboro Grasshoppers had won four straight games headed into the Thursday night affair, but they never led on Thursday night…The Hoppers felt that their home image was surging a bit, when Greensboro tied up Greenville, at 4-4, at the end of Three Innings…But, Greenville found a go-ahead run in the fourth inning, and the Drive added an insurance run in the Top of the Ninth Inning, and after the game was tied by the Grasshoppers at four, the Hoppers could score no more, and their four game win streak was halted…
When you look at more numbers, the Hoppers could only find seven hits on the night, and they only drew two walks, and struck out 16 times…Lots of Ks on the Hoppers ledger…Of the seven Hopper hits, Jhonny Severino collected 3 of them…Severino went 3-4/Double/Run for the game, and he was our REMAX Revolution Player of the Game, for the Greensboro Grasshoppers…Edward Florentino was 2-4/RBI/Run/SB for the Grasshoppers, and that made it kind of a, Florentino and Severino-type Show…Other Hopper hits went to Wyatt Sanford 1-4/Run/SB…Easton Carmichael goes 1-3/BB/SB…Jared Jones was 0-3/BB/Run…And that is pretty much it, for the Hoppers offense on this Thursday evening…
For the top Hoppers’ pitcher, I would have to go with Bryan Mena…He did take the loss, but he only gave up that 1 Run, on 6 hits, with 3 BBs/5 Ks…He just had the tough luck of being in the game, when the Greenville Drive took the lead, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers could never get back in the game, after that moment…Top Drive pitcher would be their reliever, Danny Kirwan, who worked 3 Innings, and he gave 0 Runs, on 2 Hits, with 0 BBs/6 Ks…Kirwan ended up getting the Hold for the Greenville Drive…
After Tuesday’s 11-9 Hoppers win, and the Wednesday 13-12 winner, the Thurday night 6-4 war, made for a totally different look, but Greenville was still crushing the baseball…Eight homers for Greenville on Wednesday, and then two more LOOOOOOONG GONE HRs for Greenville on Thursday….
Just for LOOOOONG GONE’s sake, here are the Two Homers that got the Drive off and running on Thursday night….
Justin Gonzales homers on a line drive to left center field.
GVL 1,GBO 0
Henry Godbout homers on a line drive to left field.
GVL 2,GBO 0
And By the Way, the Drive had 7 different batters with 2 hits in this contest…Lots of hitting balance in the Drive lineup on this night…Two numbers that really give you a hard kick in the seat of the pants…16 hits for the Drive, and 16 strikeouts by the Hoppers…OK, and like the old man used to say, “It is Time to Move on”…..
