Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh Report on Greenville Drive at Greensboro Grasshoppers, from Friday night, at First National Bank Field, in Downtown Greensboro…..

Greensboro’s Ivan Brethowr was just a Single Shy of the Cycle on Friday, in the Hoppers win over the Greenville Drive…
Final Score:Greensboro Grasshoppers 7, Greenville Drive 1
WP:Treyson Peters(1-0)/LP:Dylan Brown(0-1)/SV:Kyle Larsen(1)
Hoppers' Line-7-13-1 Drive' Line- 1- 4-0
Hoppers see their record jump up to (19-12), and the Drive take a small nose-dive, and fall to (14-17) on the season…
We said up top that Ivan Brethowr was a Single Shy of the Cycle on Friday night, and they also have said over the years, that the hardest part of the cycle is the Triple…Brethowr got the Double, then he got the Triple, and then he Homered…The single was the only missing part of his “Cycle Magic” on Friday at First National Bank Field…Brethowr was tearing things up at the plate, and he goes a cumlative 3-4/HR/Triple/Double/2 Runs/3 RBI…He was the Big-Gun for the Greensboro Grasshoppers on this night…
And we said Brethowr was Single Shy of the Cycle, but the Hoppers defense was One Out Shy of a Shutout…Two gone, in the Top of the Ninth Inning for the Greenville Drive, and just one out away from the Complete Game Shutout for the Grasshoppers pitching staff…And then Greenville’s Mason White spoiled everything for the Greensboro boys, when he hit his Solo Home Run to right field, to break up the Shutout, and made the final score, 7-1, Hoppers with the Victory…Just one more out, and the Hoppers would have been rolling out of there, with the Rare Shutout Win…
But, how about them Hoppers vs. Greenville this season…Hoppers lead the current Six-Game Series with the Drive, 3-1, and for the 2026 season, the Greensboro Grasshoppers are 6-1 vs. the Greenville Drive…..
How about Ivan Brethowr for our REMAX Revolution Player of the Game…All in Agreement, right??? We might get a bit of an arguement from the Grasshoppers’ Friday Night Pitching Staff, after Carlos Castillo, Treyson Peters, and Kyle Larsen nearly shutout the Greenville Drive…One Run, on just Four Hits, with Three Walks, and Seven Strikeouts, and the Hoppers did the job…Those three pitchers, Castillo, Peters, and Larsen, where pulling off Baseball Larceny, as they nearly held Greenville hostage on Friday, at FNB Field, and with the exception of that Mason White home run, Greenville was kept at bay on this day/night…
You win a game 7-1, that says alot, but if you get that 7-0 shutout win, that speaks volumes…Larsen just left one up there, and Mason White, sent that ball into flight, and it was then gone, out-of-sight….
The Hoppers led this game, 2-0, 3-0, and then they went up, 5-0…The Grasshoppers had pretty much been playing small ball, as they built up that 5-0 advantage, and just when you thought The Long Gone Baseball Radio Network was going to go O-fer on this night, two of the Grasshoppers Big Men hit Solo Home Runs, to put this game on ice, in the Bottom of the Seventh Inning…
Two of the Big Guns, Ivan Brethowr, and Jared Jones connected for Big Dividends, and with their size, these two can pack a punch…Brethowr goes 6’6/250, and Jones checks in at, 6’4/246…You throw in Tony Blaco Jr., at 6’7/260, and we can probably give the Carolina Panthers a run for their money….
Those two 7th Inning Bombs put the Hoppers in charge, up 7-0, and it was time to decelerate, and start to get the cars and trucks running in the back lot, where the Grasshoppers park their vehicles…
Here is the Tale of the Tape on Jones and Brethowr going LOOOOOOOONG GONE…
Jared Jones homers on a line drive to left center field.
GVL 0,GBO 6
Ivan Brethowr homers on a fly ball to right center field.
GVL 0,GBO 7…After the smoke cleared, it was clear to see that the Greensboro Grasshoppers had this game on ice…Up 7-0, and the home team, was feeling good at home again…

The Hoppers had 13 hits, and 10 of those 13 hits, came from spots 5-9, in the Greensboro Grasshoppers batting order…#5 man Jared Jones, 2-4/HR/2 Runs…#6 man Jhonny Severino 1-4/Run…#7 man Ivan Brethowr, was 3-4/HR/Triple/Double/2 Runs/3 RBI…#8 man Brian Sanchez 2-4/Run…#9 man Matt King went 2-3/Double…King was busting it up on this night, and went for the Double attempt twice in this game, looking to turn a Single, into a Double, and he got it once…The Hoppers only walked once in this contest, and Axiel Plaz drew the Walk, and he also got Hit by a Pitch….Thursday night, the Drive out-hit the Hopppers 16-7, and here on Friay night, it was the Hoppers out-hitting the Drive, 13-4…..
It was a Sweet Win, but now the Greensboro Grasshoppers have to turn around and do it all again, on Saturday Night, at FNB Field…
