Greensboro Grasshoppers see their record improve to (30-17), while the Hub City Spartanburgers fall to (24-22)…
This was not an easy win in any way, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers were able to ease past the Hub City Spartanburgers, on Wednesday afternoon…Hoppers and Burgers both with six hits, and each team committed one error, and is just part of how close this game really was…Extra solid effort from Connor Oliver, out of the Hoppers’ bullpen, and he has one of the best curve ball deliveries that we have seen…He does a great job of mixing in his fastball, and when you see his curveball sliding in there sort of slow, you are not going to be ready when his fastball hits the strike zone at 94-95 miles per hour….Oliver may be better suited coming in from the Hoppers’ pen, and that seems to have suited him best over his recent outings…He may be the Greensboro Grasshoppers most consistent pitcher, over the past month, and a-half…Oliver going Four(4) Innings from the pen, on Wednesday, and he gave up 1 Run, on 1 Hit, with 1 BB/5 Ks…He has really been bringing it, as of late, and was one of our REMAX Revolution Players of the Game, today’s Hoppers’ victory…
Our other REMAX Revolution Player of the Game, was Jacob Bimbi…Bimbi followed up Oliver, in the Hoppers’ pitching rotation today, and we got to see some more Bimbi Mania, as he worked 2 Innings, allowing 0 Runs, on 1 Hit, with 1 BB/1 K…Bimbi following Oliver was the perfect combination for the Hoppers on this day, and it sure meant tough times, for those Burger Batters…That was as about as good as One-Two Punch, that you could expect to have from the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ bullpen…Those two did their job today, and they earned their REMAX Revolution Player of the Game stripes, with flying/winning colors on Wednesday…
Hoppers’ starting pitcher Cameron Keshock did have his best stuff today/Wednesday, and after looking nearly unstoppable last Friday night, in Game Two of the Hoppers-WS Dash doubleheader, Keshock’s stock was a bit down today, but like we talked about earlier, Oliver and Bimbi really picked him up, and that made for the Overall Right Stuff…Keshock on Wednesday afternoon, going 3 Innings from his starting role, and he gave up 4 Runs, on 4 Hits, with 3 BBs/1 K, and he gave up the only Burger home run of the afternoon, when the Burgers Ben Hartl his a Three-Run HR off of Keshock in the Second Inning…But, like we saying earlier, Oliver and Bimbi were there to pick up the Hoppers, and the victory was accomplished…
The Hoppers with Six Hits on the day, and Four of them were going LOOOOOOOOOOONG GONE…On his first pitch of the day, Greensboro leadoff hitter Wyatt Sanford sent one over the right field fence, in the Bottom of the First Inning…It was the Fourth Homer by Sanford in the past two games, but Sanford ending up going 1-5 in the game, and that Home Run was his big hit…Sanford picked up his 10th HR of the 2026 season…Tony Blanco Jr. followed the leader, and he matched Sanford’s solo home run, with one of his own, when Blanco Jr. homered in the Bottom of the Fourth…Jhonny Severino kept the thread going, by going LOOOOOOOOOOOONG GONE, with his solo Home Run, in the Bottom of the Sixth Inning…Finally, Edward Florentino went LOOOOOOOOOONG GONE for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 7th Inning, and his Two-Run blast gave the Hoppers the edge they needed to ease on past Hub City, with the 6-5 final…
Those Four Hopper Homers, after 7 HRs on Tuesday, were a big difference in the outcome of the game…Greensboro, with only 6 Hits Total, and four of the Six Hits were Home Runs…Greensboro now with 84 Total Homers as a team for the season, and that gives them 8 more LOOOOOOOOONG GONES, than the #2 team, the Greenville Drive, with 76 HRs…The home runs are not the only part of the Greensboro Grasshoppers winning equation, but the LONG BALLS do play a vital part in what the Hoppers want and need to do, especially in their home park, at First National Bank Field….
So, one hit for Sanford, and that was a home run, one hit for Florentino, and his hit was a Homer, Blanco Jr. and Severino had two hits each, and those four players accounted for all of the Hoppers’ Six Hits on the day…Four HRs and that is Four of your Six team total runs also…A lot to be said for the body of work, that Sanford, Florentino, Blanco Jr., and Severino, turned in today…Yordany De Los Santos drew 2 Walks, and scored one Run…Jared Jones walked once, and he scored….Camden Janik, was able to reach base three times, with his trio of Base-On-Balls…Ten Home Runs on the year now for both Sanford and Severino, and that within itself, is very impressive, as we are not even out of the month of May…
For the Burger Batters on Wednesday, Ben Hartl went 1-3, with his Three-Run HR, doing the damage…Theo Hardy was 2-3, with 2 Doubles, and a Run Scored…Gleider Figuereo goes 1-3, with a BB, and 2 Runs…Antois Macias went 1-3/RBI, and Luke Hanson was 1-4, for the Burger Batters…Five Burger Arms combined to give up 6 Runs, on 6 Hits, and they walked 8 Hopper batters, and struck out 11 Hoppers…
It was a nice steady win, after a very explosive offensive night from both teams, back on Tuesday evening…
