(This is our Fred Anderson Toyota of Raleigh Game Report.)

Burgers' Line-9-10-0 Hoppers' Line-2- 7-0
Greensboro Grasshoppers fall to (30-18) with the loss, while the Hub City Spartanburgers improve to (25-22) with the Thursday night victory…The Hoppers were riding a Five-Game Winning Streak heading into Thursday Night’s matchup…
This game was tied at 2-2, at the end of the fifth inning…The Burgers had taken a 2-0 lead over the Hoppers, with their Two-Run Home Run by Gleider Figuereo in the Top of the Fourth Inning, but the Hoppers came back with Back-to-Back Solo Home Runs from Brian Sanchez and Shalin Polanco in the Bottom of the Fifth Inning…The Hopper HRs coming for the #8 and #9 spots in the batting order…
But, as the world turns, and as the ball keeps carrying, the Burgers came up with a Three-Run Homer from Carter Garate in the Top of the Sixth Inning, and another Three-Run Homer in the Top of Seventh Inning from Rafe Perich, and by the time the dust had settled, the Burgers led the Hoppers 8-2, then Spartacus and his boys tagged on a single run in the Top of the Ninth Inning, and that came on an RBI Single from Malcolm Moore, and that made our Final Score, Burgers 9, and Hoppers 2…
The Burgers scored and then they added on, whereas the Hoppers scored two on Thursday evening, and then they couldn’t find any MORE Runs…Hoppers held scoreless over the last Four Innings of this contest, and the hometown team went 2-13 at the plate over the last Four Innings of the ballgame…The Hoppers got that spark at the plate in the Fifth Inning, when Sanchez and Polanco sent baseballs long toward Eugene Street, and the Grasshoppers left the bases loaded in Third Inning, and also left two men on in the Seventh Inning, only to come up Empty…There were a couple of sparks from the Hoppers, and then the lights went out for the night…
The Grasshoppers starting pitcher, Seth Hernandez threw better tonight(Thursday) than he did in his previous home start, last Friday night…The highly-regarded Pittsburgh Pirates prospect went 5 Innings, allowing 2 Runs, on 3 Hits, with 3 BBs/6 Ks, and he gave up one Burger Home Run…Hernandez exited the game after Five Innings, and left with things tied at 2-2…Reliever Hung-Leng Chang came on and got smacked around pretty good, with the Burgers jumping on Chang for 6 Runs, on 5 Hits, with 2 BBs/2 Ks, and Chang surrendered the Two, Three-Run Home Runs to the Burgers…
And you have been hearing from us how impactful all the homers have been this season, and we do promote The Looooooong Gone Baseball Radio Network, and there were 13 HRs between the Hoppers and Burgers on Tuesday, the Hoppers with Four HRs and the Burgers with One Homer on Wednesday, and then on Thursday, the HR tear is back in play, Big-Time Again….First two Burger runs came off of a Two-Run HR, then Brian Sanchez and Shalin Polanco hit Solo HRs, Back-to-Back….And after all that Home Run Talk, the Burgers get the Two, Three-Run Home Runs, to seal their Victory…The Home Runs are making a HUGE Impact on the games at First National Bank Field this season…
For the night, the Hoppers were the hopers, but their hope ran out, and there were no more homers, after the first two, for the Home Run Boys, at home…Let’s get in the Hopper Hitters Overall Tally….Yordany De Los Santos was 2-4/SB…Jared Jones went 2-4…Brian Sanchez goes 1-3/HR/BB…Shalin Polanco went 1-4/HR…Edward Florentino went 1-4…Wyatt Sanford was 0-3/HBP…Jhonny Severino went 0-3/BB…Murf Gray and Easton Carmichael were 0-4, as Hoppers on Thursday night…Our REMAX Revolution Players of the Game were, Brian Sanchez and Shalin Polanco…Big nights with their Home Runs…
Boy, those Homers do make a difference…Gleider Figuereo with a Two-Run shot, Carter Garate with his Three-Run Blast, and Rafe Perich going LONG with his Three-Run HR, and that was the Difference-Makers right there…Three HRs for the Burgers, and Two for the Hoppers…Those Burger Shots accounted for Eight Runs, while the Hoppers Homers, only brought home two runs…
We could talk about it Forever, but this game did move on, and now it is gone….In fact, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG GONE!!! But just one more thought on our same topic, as this game was all Tied Up, at 2-2, and then the Burgers went on to grab the “W”…..
The Spartanburgers’ starting pitcher, Kamdyn Perry, was starting his first game this season for the Burgers…All of his previous work in 2026, came while Perry was pitching for the Hickory Crawdads, the Burgers/Texas Rangers team, in the Class A Carolina League…Perry went 4 1/3 Innings, allowing 2 Runs, on 3 Hits, with 2 BBs/3 Ks, and gave up the Two Hopper Homers on the night…WP Cole Roland worked 1 2/3s Innings for Hub City, and he gave up 0 Runs, on 1 Hit, with 0 BBs/3 Ks…Very effective outing for Mr. Roland…
Top Burger Batters, since we have told you about the Top Burger Arms, so Rafe Perich went 2-5/HR/3 RBI…Malcolm Moore was 2-4/BB/RBI…Carter Garate did heavy damage for Hub City, as he goes 1-5/HR/3 RBI…Gleider Figuereo went 1-4/HR/BB/2 RBI…Busy game for Burgers’ Paxton Kling, who was 1-2/3 BBs/Run…And there were more, but we gave you the primary key players/Burger Batters, from this game…
The Long Ball went a LOOOOOONG WAY in deciding the outcome of this contest, and we do have to say this…Jay Ramey was along beside us, helping with the broadcast tonight/Thursday, and let me continue, and just say this, NICE NIGHT out there…Good Temps, Good with No Humidity, and Nice Breeze coming through the Trees, and Please send us MORE weather like this…PLEASE Sir…
