Post 87 HiToms defeats Rowan County 7-1
The Post 87 HiToms opened Friday night’s matchup with an immediate offensive surge, defeating Rowan County Legion Post 342 by a score of 7-1.
Post 87 jumped ahead 3-0 in the first, using a solo homer from Cooper Marks to get on the board before adding a sacrifice fly from Luke Kimery and a bases?loaded walk drawn by Thristan Fiquerroa. In the third, a Nick Salas single stretched the Post 87 lead to 4-0.
Rowan County’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth, when Jayven Parks delivered a solo home run to left.
Post 87 starter Ryan Hendricks turned in a strong outing, allowing one run on four hits across seven innings. He struck out six and walked one. Rowan County’s Parker Durant recorded two?thirds of an inning in the start, giving up three runs on four hits with two walks.
The HiToms finished with 12 hits, led by Salas, who drove in three runs and went 2?for?2. Nathaneal Lorcack posted a 3?for?4 performance, while Tia Richmond and Fiquerroa each added multiple hits. Post 87 also turned two double plays defensively.
Parks, Luke Ponczka, Brant Graham, and Carter Durant each recorded one hit for Rowan County.
