Longtime Tournament Volunteer Kari Sells Named Wyndham Championship General Chair

LONGTIME TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEER KARI SELLS NAMED WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP GENERAL CHAIR

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Longtime Wyndham Championship volunteer, Kari Sells, will lead the tournament’s volunteer team as the 2026 General Chair, the tournament announced today. The 87th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 5-9, 2026, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

As the General Chair, Sells leads the team of some 1,200 tournament volunteers and chairs the tournament committee, a group of year-round volunteer leaders, each overseeing an area of tournament operations. Sells joined the Wyndham Championship volunteer team in 2009, the third tournament under the Wyndham Rewards banner.

Having relocated to North Carolina in 1995 after purchasing a flower company, Sells was the perfect person to lead the effort to transition Sedgefield Country Club into a tropical oasis fitting for a late-summer holiday at a tropical destination. When that effort reached the point at which it required a floral vendor to do the job, Sells transitioned to the operations committee where she gained comprehensive experience across just about every facet of the tournament. Sells currently works in business development at Best Logistics in Kernersville, N.C.

“I never imagined, back in my first year, that I would one day have the honor of serving as General Chair,” Sells said. “The joy and camaraderie we all experience during the tournament are unparalleled. The people I’ve met feel more like family and close friends than just fellow volunteers. I have some very large shoes to fill in this role, but I am committed to upholding the high standards set by so many who held this position before me.

“The Wyndham Championship tournament staff is amazing. The leadership of (Tournament Director) Bobby Powell is second to none. He is fantastic at what he does, and he is grooming (Operations Manager) Parker Murphy to follow in his footsteps. I want to make the staff, the tournament committee, our board of directors, and of course, Wyndham Rewards, proud of our entire PGA TOUR event and our team of incredible volunteers. This tournament would not be possible without the selfless volunteers that are with us year after year. Without all those incredible people, this PGA TOUR event doesn’t happen.”
