The Indiana Fever are back on track, piling up consecutive wins after a bit of a rough patch.
However, it hasn’t all been positive for Stephanie White’s team, especially when it comes to Caitlin Clark.
The young superstar picked up her sixth technical foul early in the win over the New York Liberty, leading to a fine.
She’s now two technicals away from an automatic one-game suspension. Nevertheless, it looks like she’s not worried about that in the slightest.
Caitlin Clark won’t change her ways to avoid technical fouls
When asked about her latest tech, Clark blamed the referees again for their reaction, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.
“I just yelled at him to call it,” Clark said. “Obviously, it was a pretty quick technical, but whatever.”
Perhaps worryingly for her team, she won’t do much to prevent another whistle. When asked about whether she’ll tone it down to avoid getting T’d up again, she had a blunt and simple answer.
“No.”
That’s the last thing the Fever wanted to hear from their franchise player, especially after White’s latest statement.
While she had Clark’s back as she usually does, she also claimed she’d have some conversations with her about staying out of trouble and doing what’s best for the team.
Clark is one of the best and most impactful players on the team, and there’s still plenty of basketball to be played this season.
As such, she has to think about the bigger picture and how much the team might miss her, especially in a crucial matchup with postseason implications or in a playoff game.
