Not much happening for the Hoppers on this night…The highligths were a 2-4 night at the plate from newcomer, catcher Richard Ramirez, the Grasshoppers got a Solo HR from Shalin Polanco, his 11th of the season…Hoppers picked up 2 runs, in the bottom of the ninth inning, with RBI singles coming from Josh Tate and Wyatt Sanford, with runs scored from Jared Jones and Shalin Polanco…For the game, Axiel Plaz went 2-4…Shalin Polanco was 1-2, while Jhonny Severino and Josh Tate were 1-4…

Grasshoppers Drop Wednesday Contest to Spartanburgers

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Hub City Spartanburgers, 10-3, on Wednesday, August 26. With the win, the Spartanburgers improved to 22-34 in the second half of the season, while the Grasshoppers fell to 33-23. Greensboro outhit Hub City, 9-3, but committed three errors.
Catcher Richard Ramirez led the Grasshoppers at the plate, going 2-for-4. Designated hitter Axiel Plaz also recorded a 2-for-4 performance. Additional hits for Greensboro came from Wyatt Sanford, Yordany De Los Santos, Jhonny Severino, Shalin Polanco, and Josh Tate.
Infielder Evan Morrison paced the Spartanburgers offensively, going 3-for-5 with a double. Catcher Arturo De Freitas followed with a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. Gleider Figuereo, Maxton Martin, and Carter Garate also recorded hits for Hub City.
Right-handed pitcher Levi Sterling made the start on the mound for Greensboro. Sterling recorded five strikeouts while allowing three hits, four runs (three earned), and one walk over 4.2 innings. He took the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season.
Right-handed pitcher AJ Russell started for Hub City, recording seven strikeouts while allowing five hits, one earned run, and one walk over 4.1 innings. Right-handed pitcher Wily Villar earned the win for the Spartanburgers, improving to 1-1 on the season.
