Grasshoppers Secure Walk-Off Victory Over Spartanburgers

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Hub City Spartanburgers 6-5 on a walk-off walk on Saturday, August 29. With the win, Greensboro improved to 35-24 in the second half of the season, while Hub City fell to 23-36. The Grasshoppers outhit the Spartanburgers 12-8 and committed three errors compared to Hub City’s one.

Leading the way offensively for Greensboro was outfielder Edward Florentino, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and one run scored. Jhonny Severino and Axiel Plaz each recorded two hits, while Tony Blanco Jr., Yordany De Los Santos, and Dylan Palmer each added a hit.

Infielder Evan Morrison led the Spartanburgers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Designated hitter Quincy Scott followed with a 2-for-4 performance, adding one RBI and one run scored. Maxton Martin, Antonis Macias, and Carter Garate also recorded hits for Hub City.

Right-handed pitcher Draven Zeigler made the start on the mound for Greensboro, recording three strikeouts while allowing seven hits, five runs (four earned), and three walks over four innings. Right-handed pitcher Greiber Mendez earned the win for the Grasshoppers, improving to 2-1 on the season.

Right-handed pitcher Enrique Segura started for Hub City, recording four strikeouts while allowing two hits, one earned run, and five walks over four innings. Right-handed pitcher Case Matter took the loss and was charged with his third blown save of the season, falling to 2-1 on the year.
