Hernandez & UNCG Men’s Golf Pace Bryan National Collegiate Leaderboard
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team paces the 13-team leaderboard after two rounds of play at the Spartans’ Bryan National Collegiate on Saturday at Bryan Park.
Senior Kelvin Hernandez and graduate student B.J. Boyce sit first and second, respectively, among the field of 84 competitors.
TEAM
UNCG carded an impressive 12-under-par (276) score to take first place after round one, as one of just five teams to finish under par.
Round two was just as good for the Spartans, finishing with a seven-under-par (281) scorecard, keeping them on top. They were one of four teams finishing under par.
Following two rounds, UNCG has a 19-under-par (557) total and is one of four teams under par.
William & Mary is second following a five-under-par (571) performance, following rounds of 289-282, which gives UNCG a 14-stroke cushion.
The Blue & Gold leads the way with a 2.92 par three average, a 4.42 par five average, six eagles and 38 birdies.
INDIVIDUAL
Hernandez completed day one with a 10-under-par performance (134), with round scores of 67-67. He had two eagles and 10 birdies on the day. The senior has a five-stroke cushion on the five golfers that are tied for third place.
Boyce fired rounds of 67-68 taking second place with his nine-under-par (135). He totaled three eagles and seven birdies.
Junior Will Guidry and sophomore Reece Sanders are tied for 21st place with an even-par (144) two-round total. Guidry’s rounds of 72-72 included one eagle and five birdies towards the team score.
Sanders, who competed as an individual and made his collegiate debut, also had rounds of 72-72, along with eight birdies.
Junior Jake Lewis (T-34th) and freshman Lincoln Newton (T-41st) rounded out the Spartans team scores. Lewis had rounds of 72-74 for a two-over-par (146) performance, while Newton, in his collegiate debut, finished with scores of 70-77 for a three-over-par (147).
Juniors Liam Percy and Cole Isbell matched Newton’s place, after they both had rounds of 76-71 for a three-over-par (147).
Keenan Royalty is tied for 54th overall after his six-over-par (150) two-round day with round scores of 77-73.
UP NEXT
UNCG will complete round three of the Bryan National Collegiate tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start at Bryan Park.
